I’d agree. The electrics today with ipilot are pretty impressive. Now would I buy one it if I only trolled LO, I think I’d put an AP on my big motor first. If I did both, inland lakes and such I’d have both. And as Justin said If I had the money......

Yes he’s trolling motor was big enough he had it on a 17 foot boat and I only troll Lake Ontario for salmon so regular auto pilot is the way it goes for me

I beg to differ...my boat catches more wind than any multi species boat ever made and have thousands of hours trolling in the wind with gas and electric used together...works very well! I need 36v for my size boat, and battery life isn't an issue either if you charge them. I don't fish with a mate and have zero boat control issues. If it's blowing close to 20 or above I have to help with the remote as the auto pilot can struggle sometimes, but I still run 9 lines and steer.
Regular auto pilot you don’t have to charge batteries every day u don’t have to carry a remote to correct boat into the wind you don’t have added weight and you can get one for not a lot more money I fished with a friend who uses his electric motor on a day with a little wind if he’s fighting a fish he’s constantly messing with his remote to correct boat next thing u know your going around in a circle not for me yes on a calm day they work good with wind not so good so spend the extra money get a regular auto pilot

Bow mount trolling motor with autopilot. I have a terova with autopilot it's the bomb for during alone. I also use it when fishing with others. Set a course and you can do whatever in the back. I have the remote so easy to adjust the course. You can find used ones for $1000.

If it was me get an autopilot it’s much better never have trouble going into the wind or running battery down trolling motors don’t work to well in wind

Up until now, I have been extremely silent on my personal feelings on how the COVID-19 pandemic is being handled by the public. But I feel like after the things I saw, both in person and on social media, and heard over the last few days, especially yesterday, I can’t be quiet anymore.
Yesterday, after finishing my weekend shifts at University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philly, I was driving home to my parent’s house. I was passing Boat House Row and the trail on the river by Kelly Drive. The amount of people I saw on this trail brought me to tears, I’m not joking I literally started to cry on 76 in my car still in my scrubs. I had to have passed over 100 people on this trail, all within arms distance of each other, most without any sort of mask on.
I don’t care that it was 70 degrees in Philly yesterday. I don’t care that you’re “going crazy” inside your house. I don’t care that yesterday was Easter and you wanted to see distance relatives. My colleagues, in all departments at all healthcare facilities, and I go to work for shifts ranging from 8-24 hours long and work directly with COVID positive patients. We see how devastating this disease is first hand. We are the only people who actually see it at its worst since these poor patients can’t have family come and see them. No visitors to ANY patient in the hospital, including the non-COVID floors. We come home and have serious talks with our loved ones about how we’re going to handle this as a household. My parents and I literally had a conversation last week about how they are willing to risk contracting the virus, and potentially dying, in order for me to be home with them when I’m not working. My roommate in Philly who is a nurse has been staying with people she works with to not bring it home.
You assholes who think you’re above this are bike riding on a trail to “clear your head”. The most exercise some of you have seen in 10+ years. You’re going to friend’s/families’ houses and then going back to your own, breaking your quarantine and risking everyone around you. And bragging about it by posting on social media that you’re with people who aren’t in your household, at a house that isn’t yours. Going to Target and Walmart to just get out of the house, contaminating everything in the store and putting others at risk. Going to a freaking church service on a roof when they are broadcasting masses on TV that you don’t have to leave your home for.
YOU are the reason this quarantine is as long as it is. YOU are the reason people are getting sick and dying. YOU are the reason so many of my friends (and myself) haven’t seen their parents, siblings, kids, grandparents in over a month. NOT the government. I am absolutely BEGGING everyone to stay inside. If it is not essential to your survival, please don’t leave your house. You‘ll live not exercising outside for a few months, some of you who have been going outside have been preparing your whole lives for that, don’t start now. Take it seriously now, don’t wait until someone you love is affected to start caring. You want to post “thank you health heroes” on your social media? How about you actually give a rats ass about us and stay inside.

And especially if these clowns are from out of state .
You know you talk about the clowns from out of state according to the constitution citizens of the us can travel freely from one state to another and out of staters spend a lot of money in your state just ask charter captains and bait shops and bars and restaurants if people would do what their ask to do like distance and mask things would get better sooner so maybe you should should grow up and think about all the people who had to die alone could be someone you know or are close to or you know one knows no one is safe so have some compassion help your neighbor

Maybe we should just do away with the rainbow and browns division too? Then 1/2 the lake won't have a chance at all.......
Look back at the previous winners in a salmon division you’ll see that there are a lot of out of stators not locals Dave is doing the right thing he’s a good guy and it’s a good derby

When u loose a cap or bearing buddy grease comes out of open hub when grease is gone bearing get hot and come apart that I know that’s why I check hubs a lot I checked hubs at least 5 or 6 times week of loc remove your cap on hun see how long u can go without cap
Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app -
I’m not saying it was someone at ceramony bald eagle has a lot of people going in and out my bearing buddy’s had to be pounded on and I check my hubs every time I get gas in truck they are always cool I didn’t check after leaving bald eagle my bad for that I don’t think it just fell off my buddy had 2 stolen parked at another boat ramp someone stole gas from another friend of mine at a boat storage place I just saying there are some disonest fishermen out there

I was up Lake Ontario in loc derby for 10 days we finished 1st in salmon division we went to ceramony and my boat trailer has bearing buddy’s on it we left ceramony around 5 got to Erie pa pulled in to get gas checked my trailer hubs noticed wheel was covered in grease no bearing buddy on wheel they just don’t fall off so we were stranded at gas station till next day wheel just pulled off I could’ve killed someone if it fell off on highway so if the person who stole bearing buddy I hope it was worth it to u it could’ve cost someone’s life

I fished around troutman for years he's always been a class act my friend chartered his boat it got real ruff they fished 3 hours they came in he didn't charge them they learned a lot from him in 3 hours other cpt should be as respected as john so I would give troutman 2 thumbs up great person

I'm not a charter cpt. and I been fortunate to place in the derby a number of times I only fish with 1 other guy in my boat during the loc. we split all gas and whatever if we loose tackle we split if we get a derby fish we split I don't count boat as a person that would mean me as the boat owner would get 2cuts of prize money that wouldn't be fair to my partner who i have fished with for years boat shouldn't get a cut in my opinion your going to own your boat anyway derby or not
Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United -
On my boat me and my partner split 50/50 but who ever gets fish has to pay taxes on money won first than split money after taxes are taken out which is about 28 percent of winnings
Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app -
No that's a new one for me, that would suck!
Yep some charter cpt really piss me off they think they ow n the lake I know it's there business but it's fisherman like us that keeps the economy going in towns around lake o with out us there wouldn't be any sammon

The thing that gets me is we always find our own fish and never go to where other boats are fishing, it's a big lake with plenty of fish to find. As soon as you put the net in they all come running to you, drives me nuts that nobody can find their own fish! Happened to me the last time out in the evening, we got out for a couple hours before dark. Found good bait setup and started catching right away, here comes a big 38 foot flybridge to join us! After ripping him on the radio a couple times he finally left.
Have u ever come across 2 or 3 charters working together in a line coming down the lake with there boards out 150 feet on a side with nothing hooked to them in a pack of boats what a path that is it happened to me last spring I told coast guard they said if I see that again call them and they will take care of them boats doing that

I will personally disagree. Just bought the newest x4d and scrapped the depth raider which cost about half. I find the fish hawk is not that reliable as it jumps around so often. My biggest problem that makes me want to go back to depth raider is the difference in speed when a line is connected to the downrigger that the fish hawk is on. Has anyone found the difference in speed after releasing a rod from the clip and while a rod is still running clipped on the rigger. The coated cable was the only reason I wanted to get away from depth raider. I may be the only guy on here who believe the fish hawk is overrated. Also I love how the readout is still reading 1.7 mph after the probe has been pulled out of the water and we are flying back to port. When its working great you will pound fish, if it is giving you a false readout all day and you believe it to be accurate you will go skunked. It has its quirks, which nobody seams to talk about. Customer service seems excellent, Ill give them that.
I have a new fish hawk works great your transducer has to be away from motors and other transducers and sometimes your depth finder has to be set on 200 kilohurst if in water deeper than 80-90 feet if not fish hawk will not stay steady
