Hello, I recently changed out my water pump. When I made it back to the lake, I could not get my boat to go into gear. I get reverse, but no forward. Any help would be appreciated

Hello, I'm just wondering if there is any difference between a 1 poece rod and a 2 piece? The one I'm looking at is a medium action 5'6" but it comes in both 1&2 pieces
