  1. I got a new boat this year and went out on the bay a few times trying various lures and depths with no luck.  I don't have a FF yet, but I do have a depth reader in my boat.  I guess my questions are:

Are there any fish in this bay lol?  I really mean, why types, I expect sheepHead, Bass, Pike, BlueGills?

Any recommendations for location?  There are some nice drop-offs near the bay bridge, where it goes from 60 - 10feet in a short distance.  I have tried jigging there with no luck.

I'm guessing I should target a specific fish, and then fish where they are more likely to be.  I would prefer pike or something like that.  I don't mind going out on the lake, but I am not sure exactly where to go once I get out there.

I have tried various jigs which I've seen on you tube working for pike.  I also tried various crank baits at various depths.

    Any help would be appreciated!

  2. That does sound like a great idea, take a short charter and enjoy potentially catching some fish while learning.  Any recommendations on a charter?

    My setup at the moment

    19' 2015 Yamaha open bow

light fishing gear, 12 lbs test on my pole and my daughter has 8 lbs test.

Obviously I am not opposed to getting different gear, just trying to research a bit before I buy the wrong stuff.

Also, I am reading that the salmon are currently in 100-200 feet of water at the moment, I am guessing no one is throwing anchor that deep.  Are you just stopping the boat and drifting or are most trolling?
