Lets get this thread started!!! The 2023 season is just around the corner. As always I'm looking forward to returning back into the deer woods. Lets see some of those trail cam pics!

Last season's gun buck story as posted in the 2022 thread

    November 19 am
    28 degrees
    SW wind 10-15 mph
    Cloudy

    Opening day gun season

Well my archery season wasn't what I had hope for. Damn work got in the way of hunting. The last two days I was hesitant of hunting because of the wind. A steady light wind works for where I wanted to be but not a heavy gusty wind so I stayed out. And I'm glad I did.

I got in stand about 610 or so and slowly got settled in with hundred layers. Before I even got my jacket on I had a buck sneak past me about 30 yards. It was too dark to tell which buck it was but of course I was convinced it was one of my target bucks. Ill admit... it screwed with my head a bit.
Gun shots started ringing out about 639ish from every direction. Then about 715 I noticed movement cutting down the same spot cruising bucks have been using for 2 weeks. Things happen fast. It doesn't take long to realize he's a shooter. I stand turn to my right. Rest the gun on the tree. The deer just happens to stop at 30 yards and I pull the trigger. He dropped in his tracks but I got hit high. 9x scope at 30 yards I guess I should have held down on him. I had to finish him off with a second shot. If only the guy shooting was as good as the gun. [emoji38].

To my surprise i have no history with this deer. Big thick wide 9pt with split g2. I'll be patiently waiting on the late season to start!

Went out of Anchor Resort and Marina this morning while the waves were managable. We headed out to around 200 and trolled back downhill, no takers we swung around and trolled out to around 300 and hit 1 King 13.5 on the 450 Copper with a magnum moonshine rv dancing anchovie. Had a few other releases then we swung back around and picked up a skippy. Off the water around 11:00.

Well a week after Jack's derby and I was able to get out with my son and his buddy. Day started slow with small browns and bows, adjusted coppers and slowed down to 2.3.......rod reefs over and I tell the boys to get it. Son's buddy jumps on it and said, it ain't no baby.......fought for a long time, thought it might be a good brown or a foul hooked laker.........when it appears, I was like, that's the biggest laker I've gotten on this lake.....called jack at southshore, he set up the scale, and we cruzed down........22lbs even on his scale.....just a beast, great day for sure!! PB for this young man.....I love this place!!!!!!

1956 28 Apr - 2Lt Gordon W. Simonds killed in training flight when T-33 trainer crashed into Skaneateles Lake.  I was wondering if anyone has seen the remains of this aircraft on their sonar? My daughter loves looking that the side imaging on my Garmin. She has found a couple of boats but still looking for the T-33

Fished North of Dean's cove today mid day kept kids busy feeling in lake trout. Set up in about 100 ft of water. Dipseys set at 270 did the most damage brought 5 home to cook and sent or lost at least that many back to the lake. Kids are learning the back of the boat and don't quite get the keep the line tight concept yet. Glad to be back out after losing last year to boat engine problems. I think the dog got a little green in the gills today. Trying to teach him to puke in the bucket emoji23.pngIMG_20200607_201601_01.jpegKIMG0228.jpegIMG_20200607_150953_01.jpeg
