  1. Fished between Galloo and Duck Island. Ran an east and west troll. 75 degree water all the way down to 120 ft. Found 58 degrees just where it quickly rises to 60 ft and didn't act quick enough and caught the weight and probe on bottom. Got very lucky and had enough cable to turn and get it loose so we could keep fishing. Found bait and marks but no bites from 7:30-noon. Saw a couple others out there with us. Anyone have any success out that way?

  2. Changed the snap on my cannon downrigger to scotty to make connecting to the ball easier a while back. Am giving my new fishhawk its maiden voyage in the morning and just realized the larger hard plastic snap does not fit through the hole on the top of the fishhawk. Anyone have any suggestions for a quick overnight fix?

    Thank you in advance.

  3. Had an optimax 135 and ran into the same issue numerous times which would result in the alarm going off and the motor going into safe mode with only minimal power. Not fun when you are quite a ways from shore As above, loosen the cap while running and it will draw the oil into the reservoir. Just be careful not to over tighten when done or you will strip the plastic threads. I ended up replacing the reservoir and the oil level sensor and that fixed the issue.

  4. We live up in St Lawrence Co and I asked my 17 yr old to help me with a project that took all day Saturday and kept him out of the woods. He went hunting yesterday and pulled the card on his camera next to his stand and found the attached all of which were from Saturday and that night. Also has a day picture of the bear he didn't send me- real big bear. Guess I picked the wrong day.22557.jpeg22555.jpeg22553.jpeg22550.jpeg22546.jpeg

  5. Fished the west side of Galloo today from 7am to 1. Moved around from 80-170 ft. Some marks at 130. One solid hook up that we lost after a few minutes on a mag size blue Daulphin. Did not see any bait entire time we were out. Got all the way out only to realize batteries were not in the probe so fishing blind for the most part. Oh well.

  6. I have an 18 ft Lund based out of Cape Vincent. Spend time bass and walleye fishing but also make a number of runs each season out past Galloo to the shipping lanes to chase the king's. Fish finder is about 7 yrs old and am looking to upgrade. Any recommendations on brand, transducer, frequency, etc that would be a good well rounded option? Have room for about 9 inch screen size.

  7. Have any of you henderson guys fished the NE end of the shipping lane?  Im talking off Mud bay where the lake hits that 130 ft counter and if you troll sw you'll eventually end up at the wall.  Seems like an area that would not get much attention

I have a place just down from Mud Bay and took a couple runs to fish that area last summer. Essentially trolling NE of Galloo on the US side of the border Landed 3 kings all 34 inches and longer. Spoon bite. Did not have a scale at the time to grab weights but they were a blast for my 15 year old to land.

  8. The cast fly wheel for the belt pulley on the attached boat hoist broke today. It's about 40 years old I would guess. Any ideas on who might carry a replacement wheel? If not and I was going to switch to a 110 volt electric winch- any suggested models? 18 ft aluminum boat weighing about 1800 lbs I would guess. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.IMG_1665.JPGIMG_1666.JPG

  9. Unfortunately we are still new to the game and fishing blind in terms of temperature. 2 Sundays ago we were in same spot and caught 2 matures and some juveniles at 50-60 ft down over 135/150 with lots of marks. Yesterday caught the above down around 95 fishing from 7:30-noon.. Everything we marked was that deep and deeper. All fish except 1 juvenile (on a stinger) on mag spoons on manual riggers. Also had 2 dipsies with spoons and subbed in flasher fly on the rigger for a while but no hits. Fun to watch my son who runs about 100lbs when wet work those fish to the boat. So far he is 100% - keeping the beginners luck going.
