  1. I am in search of an inboard boat motor for my penn yan tunnel drive boat. I would like to find a mercruiser, but I am open to other options as well. Needs to be 200hp or bigger. I don't necessarily care if it is in perfect running condition so long as it is complete and not seized. Must be clockwise/right rotation.

    Thanks

  2. Hi guys,

I am looking to get more into trolling this year and am looking for suggestions on what basic gear I should get. I don't have downriggers at the moment but may be getting some. I was thinking about trolling with dipsy divers and planer boards, but the issue I am having is that I am not sure what lures are good to use. Any suggestions on where to start would be great. Thank You

  3. Hi guys,

I recently bought my first boat and am excited to get out this spring and start fishing for the trout and salmon of the fingerlakes. I am not really sure where to start though. I don't have much boat gear yet and don't really know what I should get to get started. I likely will still fish and drop live bait or do some jigging but I would also like to do some trolling. If anyone could help me out by recommending some lures and techniques that work well it would be much appreciated. I will mostly be fishing Canandaigua and Keuka so if you have any specific tips for these lakes that would be great.

    Thanks and tight lines

  4. I am in search of either a 12ft or 14ft aluminum row boat. I would prefer 14ft boat am willing to consider 12ft for the right price. The boat would need to come with a trailer. I would prefer the boat be registered and have the proper paperwork but for the right price I would buy without. Let me know what you have and what you want for it.

  5. 1. When the line is held vertically the weight cannot be below the hook. It must be above it. So drop shot is illegal. These rules only apply September 1 to March 31. So right now you can use a drop shot and have weight below the hook.

    2. Sinking lures with treble hooks are not allowed. Again this is only September 1 to March 31. So right now you can use them.

    3. Jig heads with a plastic lure are allowed all the time. They are free swinging when they are just tied on to the line or attached with a swivel.

    Hope this helps.

Anyone know how they did on the shocking of naples creek & cold spring creek ?  thanks

Naples had a very good shocking with many fish. The biggest was almost 10 pounds. There ought to be a decent number of fish left in there for April 1st. Cold Brook was about the same as its been. The numbers have been dropping for years. They shocked more fish at Naples then Cold Brook. The fish in Naples were also bigger. Cold Brook still had quite a few fingerlings left from the stocking last fall.

  8. Has anyone ever fly fished in the lakes. Not the tributaries. I want to target trout and salmon but not really sure how to do it. I assume baitfish streamer patterns would work. Maybe I could try dry fly patterns when the fish are eating off the surface. Any help would be appreciated.

  9. Has anyone ever fished Walleye from shore over on Conesus Lake. I want to catch Walleye and that is not very far away from where I live. I know the walleye come in pretty thick before the first Saturday in may when the season opens. Will there be any fish left by the then. Or will they all have moved out to deep to catch from the shore. Is night the best time to try for them? What is the best bait?
