  1. Check out these strips that have been compared to the classic RD strips. They are Alewife and Glow in the dark. We ship to New York. Mention this post for and try our Natural for $9.99

  2. At the risk off sounding like a real PITA just keep in mind that your meat strips should technically list the ingredients on the package be they commercial or not. We went through a long period when regulations prevented the use of these products and some Great lakes states are still very restrictive.

This is correct. The bait being used needs to be VHS CERTIFIED and approved by the DNR.

Check out The BIG ONE Cut Bait. It is the Original Alewfie Cut Bait in the Great Lakes and the Original to use GLOW MEAT processing. It also does not need to be refrigerated which helps when the cooler ice melts and the bait starts to turn funky. There’s no wasted strips.

You can find it at thebigonecutbait.com or bigweeniebrand.com

  3. The team over at Big Jon are unbelievable! They helped me get replacement parts quickly. Kevin (in their service department) even helped me precision drill and customize new rod holders to fit my current track system.

  5. These pictures show the durability of the treated strips. They can be reused once or twice more, in most cases, even after getting whacked by a fish. 6. Don’t really post much on LOU but follow the threads and occasionally ask questions.

Wanted to jump in on this one because I have started producing a new product in Toronto called “The Big One” Cut Bait Co. -Alewife.

I treat, hand cut and package each strip myself in my basement. My wife hates me for it but understands I am a Fishing nut.

It is real Alewife that is specially treated to last over 4 hours in the water without getting soggy. The treated strips also do not need to be refrigerated.

Strips are about 6 inches long. They are the width of a MC ROCKET and will fit in all Bait heads, including Rhys and John King

    Scales are in tact

    VHS certified in Ontario

$10 USD per pack of 4 strips

    Shipping to USA available

     PM if interested

  7. I've been following the forum for a few years, so thank you all for the great content.
Have a question about how to rig Otter boards. Just picked some up at Fat Nancy's and want to start running them.
I've heard of using a double rudder system but The original package only has one keel per board.
Is the double keel that much better?
Thanks in advance for the comments and replies
