When I ran harnesses a few years back it was all double serrated edge willows in silver and gold painted in various colors (I powder paint air brush my own). I ran them in the spread with spoons and felt that the willows were more speed tolerant. The bite on Erie has been so insane for the past few years I just run spoons and plugs.

AFW makes a Micro Swivel too that works well.

No snubber. 25lb trilene 100% flouro
Same Here….I have used the Trilene 100% fluorocarbon for many years with no complaints. Actually, the only fluorocarbon I really couldn’t get along with is Vanish. It made a lot of lures and fish “Vanish” the couple times I tried it.

We were there week before last and got a few kings in the low teens but had an awesome steelie bite 480-510. 200 weighted steel was en fuego!!! Needed to be setting lines a good half hour before you saw the sun. 40 & 60 rigger “mupped” (I learned a new term this year and wanted to use it) did ok too. Kings came on deep ff.

I grew up in Elyria, just west of Cleveland, and fished Lake Erie walleye with my grandfather. A friend who fishes Erie out of Lorain had a work schedule that gave him every Friday off in the summer. So every Friday about 8 AM my phone would start blowing up with pictures of his fish well jammed with huge walleye. We appreciate the depth and colder water of Lake Ontario for the salmon, steelhead, and trout it holds, but there is something to be said for a shallower lake that provides easy pickings on a very tasty fish like walleye.

Ya….It’s ok….I fish out of Conneaut a couple dozen times a year on meat hunts but I get tired of dragging in walleye like oversized top water lures. I need the thrill of something that actually fights a few times a year.

Very Good Points. Thank You!!! Where was the temp break on Sunday?

How’s the Olcott bite? Getting any better? Gonna fish tomorrow - Friday either at Olcott or Drive to the Oak. Any thoughts?

Thank You for all your help!!!

Is that the launch by the Black North?

Ya. I thought of running to the Oak to fish. Staying in Olcott. Is there good parking there for a boat and trailer? Never launched there.

Thank you for the update. Headed up Wed-Fri to give it a shot!!!

Thank you for the update. Hopefully a few more show up.

Good Idea…We fished a couple weeks back and did some mid sized kings in 270 and lost a few others.

Anyone been out of Olcott? Heading up next week and looking for a good starting depth and how deep the temp is there. Thank You!!!

Ok…So what does “Offshore” actually mean. Is it a depth or distance? Is it beyond “5 nautical miles” as in NOAA forecasts? I’ve heard this term for years and never really knew exactly what it meant.
