Almost done for the day and what a day it was! 

Heading up to the Oak tomorrow morning, second time on the big lake this year. Pretty sad considering we made at least 20 trips in 2021. Anyways.. had room in the boat for 1 more person and I opted to throw a request out on social media. The post said, “looking for someone to help move landscape boulder all day Saturday”. Anyone willing to spend a day doing heavy manual labor deserves to fight a salmon. 
 

My neighbors moved a few miles away years ago. They have 4 boys, the oldest Tyler reached out to me Thursday late afternoon and offered to help. Haven’t seen him in years… but there he was! 
 

Tyler is a Marine and we will be proudly displaying the Stars and Stripes up high on the bow (18’ Trophy). If you see us, throw a wave and we will do the same. 🇺🇸

Thanks for the replies. Knowing the cost of a new probe I was thinking if you don't need it, leave it in the boat. My mindset was shallow water (0-30') vs the surface speed, regardless of GPS or at the transducer would be very similar. I will rethink my shallow water approach and keep the FH probe in the water.

At what depth of water do you start using the a Fish Hawk (or any other similar device) when trolling and you want an accurate reading of speed at the ball? Assuming your boat has surface speed capabilities and you trust that information to be accurate at the surface and similar at the downrigger ball up to a particular depth.  Photo is for show, Canadice Lake 2019. 

Insane bite 200 FOW, 40-50’ down head west. Solo style highlight was this double. Riggers were hot with Moonshine Glow spoons and wonderbread spin dr with glow fly. 1 rainbow 6 colors. Good luck and stay dry.

 Never trust a wind forecast more than a day in advance. Forecast has changed 3 times already. 5-10 mph from the west currently all weekend.  Could change again by tonight. Usually when storm cells are coming through like they are this weekend you will get cells or short periods of wind as the storm moves through so still need to be careful. Predicting wind when a front is moving in can be tricky. Can’t tell you how  many times I’ve been burned by trusting a wind forecast. 

Current forecast for the south shore of Ontario. 6/11 & 6/12. Waves 1' - 3' building to 3' - 5' and occasional 6' with scattered thunderstorms. Looks like I may be hitting Canandaigua Lake this weekend.  

Boat died wouldn't start, thought plugs were fouled and got towed in. After an hour of investigation and new plugs I discovered kill switch was off. Every trip is a learning experience. #WeAllSuckSometimes
