So I am asking this out of ignorance. When you find bait, do you keep going back to the bait ball and if you do.how long do you give it before moving on? I am obviously new and am trying to develop a strategy for trying to locate fish.

Embarrassed to ask this question but how else am I am going to learn..First time fishing open water. What is your process for searching for fish? Do you find fish/bait first and then set up downriggers/dipsies etc?

So I'm a total newbie out on the lake (got skunked at Niagara bar today). If you're comfortable with it, can you share what depths you were successful at as well as any other details?
