  1. Only got out for about 2 hours before the wind changed and bounced us off the lake. Fished out of Bald Eagle Marina. Didn't mark much . Had 2 on and lost both . one on a spoon, 50 down over 180, and the other on spin doctor/fly out 140 on the dipsey wire line. First time fishing out of there. Nice launch, and friendly atsmophere .
Watch out for debris out there. They were pulling a bigger boat out when we got back to the marina. Apparently they hit something off shore , and broke one of there drive shafts.

  2. I too am sorry for your losses... I lost my best producing spoon about 2 weeks ago to " the beast" in front of Sandy. ( Also an old NK) Then last night it took a spin doctor/fly from me just east of Hamlin. They say things like this happen in 3's, I wonder what it will take from me next.

My wife won't believe me when I tell her I "have" to go shopping for more lures!

  3. Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who is willing to share info on the fishing. I don't get out much, so any info helps when I get a chance.

Got out this morning for just a couple hours with my wife, and my nephew. Was able to find some fish and get my nephew his first king. Found out that my wife has no problem "jumping on a pole" when the line is screaming off! Lol

Our best was in 120 to 130 this morning, a little west of the creek towards Hamlin.c1e85b5b0f22001398c31cbd7c114dcf.jpg

  4. I was wondering if anybody knows if Northern King lures is still in business. I am trying to find some older ones they used to make, and or see what new ones they may have.

If anyone has any info or a link to a previous post on this web site, that would be great.

    Thanks

    Jeff

    SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS

Finally got the boat "running in the water!" last night. Tried I-bay last weekend and the boat didn't want to start , after running fine in my driveway the weekend before. Anyways fished for about 2 hours last night and we boated 1 laker, 1 atlantic, and 3 browns. We ran all sorts of sticks in all different colors, and 2 down riggers with spoons. The best lure was a grn/blk/silver nk28 with glow tape, 4ft down and 50 ft back on the down rigger. (go figure? 6 lines on the planner boards and 3 fish come off the down rigger) All the fish but 1 came in around 8fow.

Everyone I talked to seemed to catch at least a couple fish yesterday.

Good luck out there today guys. I will be thinking about you all while I am helping my brother move.?.? Oh well, Family first I guess.

  6. Sorry if this has already been asked....I haven't had a chance to get on this web site in a while...Does anyone know if there is a bait shop near, or on, Port Bay? My brother-in-law and some friends decided they wanted to try out in front of their cottages. Thanks in advance!

  7. Just wondering.........My brother in law has a place on Port Bay and we were wondering if anyone knew if the Salmon come in there at all in the fall? We have caught a brown or two in the spring in there, but didn't know about the salmon.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jeff

    SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS

Got out for the first time last night with one of my brother in laws, and my brother. Boat ran great and managed to get a few hits and land one. There was nice water both east and west of Sandy. I didn't go too far with it being so late by the time we got on the water. Great to get out....and even better to see my brother in law land his first trout. I don't know who was more excited, him or me.

I'll be back out Friday morning trying again. Got the day off from work and talked the wife into venturing out! :$

Hopefully the docks are in or she is going to get wet launching the boat!?!?!?

  9. Thanks for getting back to me alloutdoorsman. I live in Hilton, but travel a lot for work. (Traveling to hunt or fish is no big deal to me) Last spring I saw thousands of snow geese migrating along the thruway while traveling back and forth to Syracuse.

I will give you a call. Who should I ask for.....and do you have a web site?

    Thanks again,

    Jeff

  10. I got the boat out for the first time Saturday also! Had to wait for the weather to warm up around 11ish so the wife would help me launch. Boat ran well and managed to catch 1 small brown right in front of the creek also.

On a side note..... I have been having pretty good luck with the Challenger stick baits the last few years. Just wondering if anybody else has been running them? The 1 fish I caught on Saturday was on a blue w/ black spots Challenger.

See ya on the water

  11. Fished from 6am-11am in front of the river and up and back to the 104 bridge......went 1 for 5 in front of the river.7 ft down right in front of the charlotte pier around 8:30 was the only fish that wanted to hang on. It was about 25lbs and took a glow fire tiger j-plug out about 60ft. The rest of our hits were just west of the charlotte pier. A lot of people out again today, but didn't see any other fish landed. I'm sure there had to be a few caught somewhere.
