    FWIW I DO NOT like Owners. Yes they are sharp but they are also smaller with a narrower gap than others that are available. I've also found them easy to break.

    The new hooks from Torpedo will definitely get some water time behind my boat this summer but I'm still VERY partial to the red Mustad trebles and singles that Siggs Rigs uses.

    I tie all my own tandem leaders and simply prefer those hooks and lose very few diver fish.

    you must be a salesman when you are not doing charters!!!!

    As a charter captain and taxidermist I actually AM a salesman. However, this time I'm not selling anything. The price you pay for the Salmon School will be well offset by the gift bag and other free stuff you will receive.

    As we close in on the registration deadline and the date itself I wanted to remind everyone of another amazing deal.

    BloodRun Copper, in association with Coville Outfitters, will be offering FREE copper and Flee Line spooling service at the show. That's right! You can bring your reels to the School, leave them with Greg and Danny at the BloodRun Booth while you're in class, and they will be spooled up and ready to go when you're done. You pay ONLY for the line!

    If you're wondering how much backing you'll need, how much copper or if you'll do it properly you do not have to worry about it. Come to the Salmon School, bring your reels and while you're learning about copper techniques your reels will be ready to go exactly as they should be!

    The LOTSA site is now back up and running and there are a few openings left. We had our last meeting last night and I can promise everyone in attendance that this will be the SEMINAR OF THE YEAR!!

    Big boards for copper and core.

    Boat width has nothing to do with it. In fact, I developed my inline tactics based on tips from friends in Michigan while I was fishing out of a 16' Sylvan! Inlines were MADE for small boat deployment!

    Not sure why you think TX44s "suck" but would love to hear about it. 44's will whip a big King on a long copper faster than anything!

    OR you could just run inlines and never have to worry about it. Redeployment of an outside big board line is all but impossible with long coppers. With inlines it's as simple as can be.

    We will be discussing these methods and techniques at the LOTSA Super Salmon Seminar on the 24th in Niagara Falls. You will be amazed at how easy inlines are to use once you learn some simple techniques!

    If you haven't signed up for the class you still can at the LOTSA site---hopefully it's fixed. ðŸ˜

    cant wait!!!hey paul,i had made a post a while back to try to get lou members that are attending the class to get together that weekend and you had mentioned something about friday night,is that going to happen and if so,where and what time?thanks

    It will be Friday afternoon/evening at a location to be determined. Most likely at the convention center if we can find a spot. Prob meet around 5.

    LOTSA SUPER SALMON SEMINAR

    On Saturday January 24th LOTSA is once again hosting the Super Salmon School. Capt Greg Gehrig (Top Gun-Oswego), Capt Mark McClutchey (Diabolical- Michigan and Salmon Showdown fame) and myself (Free Spirit-Oak Orchard) will be putting on what we consider to be the most comprehensive, educational information packed seminar ever presented.

    We will be teaching you to better understand Lake Ontario and we will be intensively covering our favorite techniques. Each of us brings a "specialty" to the class which we will be sharing with everyone. Capt Greg will share his "tournament famous" downrigger programs. Capt Mark will be sharing his deep water meat fishing techniques that have made his team Michigan's biggest tournament threat. I will be sharing my knowledge of reading water, temp graphs and currents as well as my techniques and methods for running multiple "junk lines"--like lead core and copper. This seminar will cover EVERYTHING from deciding where to start, what to start with and how to run it all the way down to playing and landing your fish.

    Offshore Divers?

    Depending on where you launch from the mudline is usually the key to oldsquaws and scoters. A string of 12-15 run 25 yards off the back of your boat is all that is needed. They aren't the brightest birds---I wear my orange Mustang and occasionally have to "duck". 😄

    Good luck on the eider---although one or two are killed in Niagara every other year or so you are about 250 miles too far west. Bluebills, goldeneyes and cans are usually too smart to fall for the "string of ducks behind the fishing boat" trick.
