I finally found myself a new used boat, but now I need to figure out the best way to mount my downriggers, any suggestions?

I am not sure if I should mount them right to the boat or if I should put a board acroos the back and mount them on that.

I live in penn yan, I also forgot to mention that the trailer has surge brakes.

I just found out that the boat is a 1972, has 2 aluminum gas tanks, also has a wash deck, and can pump water right from the lake to clean the deck with.

thanks, this the kind of info I wolud like to know before I buy and find out the hard way.Hopefuuly more people are familiar and can give me all the info they have.

I am looking for as much help and info I can get on this paticular boat, I think the price is really good, but I am unfamiliar with the tunnel drive. It is powered by the 350 5.7 liter.Is this a good boat? and also is this something that would be good for lake ontario? I am going to look at this after work so if anyone has any info, good and bad I would like to hear it.Thanks.

I thank everyone for there input on the type and length of boat that would be good for me. The one thing I didn't think to ask is what to look for when purchasing, what I mean is how can I tell if the boat leaks, the engine has cracks in the block or heads, or is there something specific for certain engines.[ Kind of like certain chevy engines are knon for blowing head gaskets] any and all help is greatly appreciated. put the boat in the water for the first time this year with the kids. launched out of severne. after a bad start [ left one tackle box home] I put downriggers out with what lures I had on the boat, we picked up a 22 in. laker on a whi/chart/ flasher and a green fly. the fish had an eel stuck to it. I chopped up the eel and kept the fish for supper.bad news for the fish and eel. managed to get soaked as well from the rain. all in all, the kids had a great time, and we got a fish. bad start with a great finish.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me what depth rainbows, browns and landlocks feed and hold at? I have noticed from the posts, the majority of the trout taken are lakers, ranging from shallow to deep. But I don't see to many posts about the rest. I have taken several lakers off keuka trolling, usually 50 to 100ft. down on downriggers. I haven't picked anything else up though. Am I correct to assume that the other fish are within the top 50ft? I have never tried trolling that shallow before.

I have a 1976 amf crestliner with the 188 hp mercruiser [ 302 ford ] unfortunately I think it may need a motor. I was wondering if any one may know some one that may have one used. for now i have a mfg gypsy, it's not the best thing but it works. any how, if i can't find a motor, i am going to try to get rid of both boats, nd sell some things to try to fund something i don't have to work on constantly.

portable gas power lincoln welder generator. this an ac unit- it is stick weld and the generator puts out 3500 watts.
