  1. the ramp at the park is nice. only thing missing is a fish cleaning station. at least there was none the last time we were there. i believe the state parks charge 7 bucks for a day pass? like was said, get there early and there wont be anyone at the gate anyways.

  2. Since no one else mentioned it, i'll throw api in there as well. Not sure about the newer stands, but I have the older bow hunter model. It's an open faced climber, welded aluminum so its quiet, and I love it. Weighs 16 lbs and I replaced the seat with a hazmore seat and its comfier then anything. A kid I take hunting has a summit viper and I don't think I would like it after owning my current stand. Not for archery anyway. I prefer the open front stands. The climbing stirrups are a nice touch and the seat looks nice, but leave it out in the weather and I'm sure it holds some water. That's part of the reason I replaced the foam/cloth seat on mine. Also the summit doesn't pack very well. The pieces slide together nice but seems like a pain in the to carry the way the straps and seat are in there. Whatever climber you get, one thing worth adding is a pack frame with the kidney straps to help take the weight off your shoulders. I bought the molle pack frames/straps and used zip ties to fasten them onto my stands. World of difference walking in with the extra support. And for 25 bucks to outfit both of my stands, a lot cheaper then what they sell at the stores.

  3. We finished the morning 4 for 6 with a couple of short hits I'm sure. There were 3 times our diver rods started bouncing and released but no one home. The last fish we caught was when we chatted. Came on our 300 copper and it was a small one we tossed back. Guess we didn't do to bad except our fish hawk probe crapped out on us. How did you guys do today?

  4. Yeah that seemed like the place to be from the radio chat. We went 3 for 4 this am. Started off the plant again and landed 2 lost one. Glow green flasher and glow green fly down 105 and a 300 copper pulling an nk mag dolphin spoon. Not marking anything so we ran over just off the river and trolled with the waves landing another one out in 120 some foot of water down 104ft before we had to get a guy in to head home at 1030. We'll be off the river or selkirk tomorrow am heading north hopefully. Thanks for the report and congrats on the fish. Our biggest so far came this am just over 26lbs. I'll let you know if we do anything tomorrow on 68. Jersey boys right?

  5. Fished till 920 this am. Went 6 for 7. Lost one on a mag spoon on our 300 copper. Landed 3 on a 280 dipsey with a sushi fly, 1 on a 129 dipsey, then riggers at 90 and 104. I was resetting the diver when the 90ft rigger fired so I put the dipsey down and a minute later it fired. Fun times. Same 100-125 ft of water near the plant.

  6. We were 3 for 7 today out in front of the plant. Actually just before the plant. All flasher and flies 75 to 104 down in 100 to 113 feet of water.250 and 300 out of the dipsey divers on a 3 setting. Plus a 300 copper took a hit while I was setting it. Wound up in a lost fish though.

  7. We have a cabin at selkirk this year. My dad wound up staying home an extra day because of the hurricane blowing through so I doubt we'll get until tomorrow morning. I'll try ya tomorrow morning to see how you made out. Lake looks pretty nice right now.

  8. What's up drew. Have you been to the wigwam before? We tried to find it one night on our snowmobiles but somehow got lost. That's a story for another season and another message board though. I'll be up the 28th till the 4th fishing anywhere from the pond to the plant and maybe off towards oswego. I know i'll be out every morning, but the wife and kids keep me on shore in the afternoons. Let me know what channel you're on. We usually scan 68 and 72. Brew Master.

  9. Right on. We fished a day last year right after an "upwelling" of temps in Mexico bay. I think the surface temps dropped to low 60s from the low 70s and it was in the 50s maybe 40 or so feet down. We did really well tolling the bouy line in front of the plant. A 200 copper with a mag green dolphin fished down the chute took 5 of our 6 fish that morning. There was a decent chop on the lake but nothing bad. Bottom line is you won't catch fish sitting at camp waiting for good reports to come in.

  10. Chances are I saw the video, I've been watching fishing videos all week. Is it the great lakes tackle one? At any rate I retied a few fly harnesses, added some length on the treble and the piece of wire to the front hook, and I think they're around 23" for fishing with 8" flashers. We've gotten away from bait fishing when rhys Davis left the scene but are gonna get back into it this year.

  11. coming up the lake this sunday for the week and going to try these for the first time. i'm guessing lead length is the same as a clean fly behind an 8" flasher? do these run at the same speeds? also, when running an 11" flasher/fly, what kind of speeds do they produce at? cut bait speed or higher? thanks.

  12. whats everyones opinion of using a clamp on rod holder for a copper rod? we started running a 300 copper down the chute last year and im thinking of adding another rod and using in line planers this year. the boat is a trophy and i was thinking of using a pair of the clamp on rod holders on the rail near the cuddy. we have big jon single rod holders for dipsy divers. would switching them to doubles work or is it a better idea to have the planer rods more forward? also, when using the boards, where do you set your drag? sort of like a diver rod so it just holds without line creep while trolling? thanks.

  13. we usually stay at selkirk and fish mexico bay, but this year we rented a house the week before labor day on little sodus with a dock. wife says 3 kids under 3 is too many for the tent camping thing. question is, where do you fair haven guys clean your fish? can you take the fillets off of the fish and dump the carcass overboard? we really don't want to do that and not even sure if its legal or not. also, hows the fishing in the area that time of year? really hoping to avoid alot of the traffic like in front of the salmon river and still catch some nice fish. thanks.
