Very nice!! Thanks for sharing and a big  on the releases of those fish most others would have creeled for sure!! PAP.

Thank you. I always release anything over 20 inches. And actually dont keep many of the eaters under 20. I hate cleaning fish. lol

Nice job as always!  I knew you've been on em.  You and I and Bruce will have to get out this spring....and I might have to get a jig rod out this evening!!

Justin the week before last with the high murky water was great with some good sized fish. Since fall i've caught more than 20 fish over 27 inches and many of those over 29., Nothin over 30 though .. The last 6 or 7 days or so including yesterday has been a grind. No numbers of fish and a lot of hours spent looking.. Bruce and I are planning on it

  3. Its been a weird year for sure... Ive been going every single day and catching quite a few but its been either going a at like 5am and hitting them till it starts getting light or heading down right at dark and hitting them from about 6:30 till 8... I've always just used bucktails and though they have been working some the bulk of the fish I've been getting have been on #6 rippin raps. But during the daylight hours its been way to hit or total miss.

  4. I just got back from 5 days up on the lake... and as someone suggested wrapping a damp towel around my boom seemed to do the trick and the unit worked perfect after i did that... but my next problem was with the coated cable and the enormous amount of blowback...I was running a 13lb torpedo weight on it... had to go down 160-170 to reach a 110 trolling depth.. but that wasnt the problem... the problem was on countless occasions the line from that rod would get caught up with the other rigger and i mean some nasty messes... i never had this happen before... is there a trick in preventing this....i tryed turning so slowly that it seemed to take forever to get around and still got a mess..Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do to correct this... Im still a novice and tryed everything i could to fix this....

I will say however in between cutting lines and untangling things, we did do pretty well on kings, (for us anyways) out of mexico...

  5. i recently purchased a cannon speed and temp unit..I used it last week at cayuga and it seemed to work fine but yesterday on ontario i started having problems with losing my readings...I put the coated cable on(the blow back is unreal)..It started off fine but after an hour or so when i brought it up to switch lures and sent it back down till the unit was reading 105 (which took a 175 ft of coated cable out on downrigger).. it would work for a few minutes and then id lose my readings again...id bring up the downrigger a little it would work for a few minutes and go blank again.. I've changed battery in the probe thinking maybe that was my issue but it wasnt.. So i've got not a clue what it could be

    any suggestions?

  6. Last year i bought an Eagle 502c igps in the spring..It worked perfectly for me all year..This year however, its been driving me crazy..The GPS works fine but the sonar is an entirely different story..i can be trolling along in 150ft of water and all of a sudden it will go nuts and read that im in like 2ft of water or while in the same 150ft of water at Cayuga lake the 150 will start blinking and stay at that number though i know im now in 200ft plus of water as though it has lost contact with bottum...Aslo it now rarely if ever seems to be marking any fish... I've got no idea whats wrong with it...I was thinking maybe a noise problem either electrical or air bubbles, but today i shut everything off in the middle of cayuga lake and it still told me i was in 2ft of water...Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated..On a side note probably unrelated, the volume on the keypad and alarms seems to have now stopped working as well

    thanks in advance

  7. i always used regular mono for my dipseys... but about 2 months ago i broke down and got wire.... i been using it for 2 months and havent landed a fish....everything breaks the leader below the snubber and not at the knot.. it can be 6 inches below the snubber to right in the middle of the leader.i've got the drag pretty loose and i've tryed various pound test for leaders.. ranging from 10 to 20 pound.and its not just salmon breaking the line i fish cayuga lake most often.. ...I figure im doing something wrong, but just cant figure it out... any thoughts??

  8. I troll cayuga every weekend.... I guess its a comfort thing.. but yesterday i decided to make the trip up and put in this morning outta mexico....Well it didnt exactly start off fast and furious... in fact it was down right piss poor, for us anyways,... I trolled every color, shape and size spoon i had... and got NADA!!!! my budy that came along, who doesnt do much trolling asked if i wanted to use anything he brought... and he pulls out a one ounce white rattle trap.....i'm like dude that aint gonna work... but he wanted to try it... so we put it down 80ft... and within 5 minutes, got a small king bout 10 pounds.... well to make a long story short we caught 5 more on it over the next to hours, nothing big 14 pounds or so being the biggest....everything on a lure i would never have put on...
