  4. Experimented with an umbrella rig on Seneca ~30 years ago... limited results using straight wire and downriggers (a couple 6-7 lb LT). Could have been a NQO problem though

I fished with a friend on erie 2 years ago he ran an umbrella rig with bare spoons when we stopped catching fish put it out on a dipsy two out of three lines on that side of the boat fired within 15 minutes.

    SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS

Had a great shake down run this past weekend, went 7 for 7 with the bright skies they seamed to be hanging out in 15 to 20 of water caught four lakers the biggest being 31" a hand full of small browns and a nice 22" steelhead. Sorry forget the camera so no pic's but we did fish the whole bay from the plant all the way up to almost sandy pond. The best water temp, color and fishing was from selkirk north above the salmon river. 2.25-2.50 seamed to be the best speed stickbaits were back 140 and spoons were back 110 of the balls. We caught fish all times of the day from morning to afternoon. We started thursday afternoon fishing at catfish and went to the plant no luck, cooler water, no color and no takers so we moved around 3pm and went north found color and temp at selkirk and caught some fish. Went back out the next morning and set up at selkirk but couldn't get a taker started in 10' and trolled from an hour or so then moved out to 15' and started hitting fish so watch your depth it can make or break your day. Water temp in front of the salmon was the best being 45 most of the fish were taken just north of there it was a real mixed bag which was fun we even caught a Atlantic around 25" haven't seen the lakers in the bay for a long time but there back this year. Remember there is a new state law requiring all boats under 21' to have life jackets on while underway till May 1st I'm sure they will be writing up a lot of guys with this one so watch out, be safe and good luck..... See you on the water!
