Thanks: How deep should i have my bait down?

No down riggers but we are running planer boards. How deep should I run my stick bait in 20' of water?

I'm new to lake Ontario trout fishing. I had good luck in May and early June trolling in 10' of water for browns but things have realy slowed down tips needed. How deep are the browns and what are they hitting on?
