  1. Sorry for the late report. Kade & I got on water @ 8:30 and fished 'til 12:30. We started out working 50 - 70 fow marking lots of bait and fish but couldn't get much going. Moved out a little deeper and started a steady pick of lakers on dipsys out anywhere from 140 - 300. Worked the riggers from 10' - 70' with only 1 laker at 60'. Took 7 between the 2 dipsy rods. All were 6 - 7lbs. Just as we were picking up, we took the hardest shot yet on a dipsy out 290'. It hit and ripped off 30' of line before I could get to it and was gone, all we got was the lamprey. ;(;( Kade is convinced it was a sturgeon

  2. Bite picked up for us when wind died down. Had to work til noon, on the water and set up with 11 rod spread @3:00. Went 4/9 , had some nibblers at first. Picked up at 5:00 to go to weigh in. Kade is in first, Ernie's daughter Faith is in third. First time pullin 4 dypsy rods.....no tangled!!!!

  3. Wes-the only time we use a net is during a tournament, otherwise I grab em at the back of the boat with the gripper only cause I hate tryin' to untangle everything out of the net. And you will see us at B&B, unless weather is REALLY snotty.

Ed- the only time Kade let's me have a rod is to get them out of the rod holder, or to reset. Wouldn't want it any other way!

  4. Launched at T-Falls @ 10:30. Kade didn't want to run boards (takes too long for Dad to set up and he don't like drivin') so we set up our normal spread, 2 dipsy rods and 4 on the riggers. Billy V and a couple of other boats were working out front so we headed north on west side after picking a couple lakers out front. Not much action until we got past the scout camp, then things got crazy for about an hour. Even landed a couple doubles. Picked up at 4:00. 7/10 all lakers. Mag dipseys out 280' and 290' too most of the hits. Riggers at 70' and 80' also took a couple.

  5. I personally don't care if it's accurate or not...as long as it's consistant. Play with your speed at the ball until rods start poppin'...whatever the number is for speed at the ball...keep it there.

  6. Frisco-wheel and gps stay pretty close unless in rough water. We did see some pretty significant variances between gps and speed at ball at times. Biggest variance was .7 mph difference. I have noticed speed at ball stays pretty constant and gps speed will jump around a bit.

  7. Kade & I launched at T-Falls @ 2:30 and decided to head north. We ran up past Sheldrake and set up on west side. We decided to fish deeper water so we could play with the new X-4. Fished from 3:00 - 5:30 and put 3 lakers in the boat all @ 7lbs. Had 3 or 4 short strikers as well. All hits were on F/F on mag dipseys out 280 and 300. Worked sticks and spoons on riggers from 30 to 70 and leadline 1 core to 6 cores out and couldn't find any takers. Saw a ton of bait from 250 to 280 over 300 fow. The X-4 worked flawlessly and it was interesting to see the difference in speed between that and GPS at times. Beautiful afternoon to boot! Only saw 1 other boat while we were out.

Kade & I fished out of Sodus for the second time this year. Weather was awesome, but water was clear, clear, clear. We set up out in front of the beach and headed west. Found a tiny pocket of stained water just west of Maxwell where we took 3 of the 4 hits. Last one was about a mile or so west of there when we were picking up. That was our best fish of the day and gave Kade a pretty good tussle.

  9. Might have been us you saw...white and blue Triton 189...pretty sure we went past you guys just west of Maxwell. Sounds like we were a boat or two late to the party. We managed a handful of small browns that was it. Beautiful day on the water tho once things calmed down...first couple hours trolling into the wind was a little dicey...got the carpet in the boat clean tho!

  10. Kade & I were out in the afternoon. Was that you picking up north of the scout camp just as we were coming up through? Looked like your boat. I was busy resetting riggers and trying to keep an eye on Kade's driving. We had a steady bite, just couldn't get 'em to the boat. Got one salmon in the boat on dipsy out 240', dropped one on the other dipsy, and dropped 4 on the 70' and 80' riggers. Just wasn't our day.

  11. Kade & I got off to a late start, launched at T-Falls @3:00 and headed north. Fished from scout camp to about half way to sheldrake and back. Temp seems to have evened out, had 63 on top and 58 down 95. Set up 4 rods on riggers and 2 dipsy rods and worked 70-130 fow. Had a very steady pick all afternoon of lakers, salmon, and 1 brown. Nothing big, but full of fight. Riggers at 50, 60, 70, and 80 all took fish. Mag dipsys out 160, 180, 200, 220, and 230 took fish as well. No doubles or triples, but we were pullin' fish every 10 minutes or so. Ended up 12/16 back at ramp at 6:30. What a stupendous afternoon on the water. Never thought we'd be damn near buffy fishin' in October! 8)

  12. I think you're right Carolyn...it was Kade. Lately, I've been letting him decide what goes in the water, and at what depths based on what he sees on the fish finder while I start setting up. In fact, he made me pull both rods on one rigger and change spoons, which was just prior to things getting crazy. Gonna have to buy him a bigger hat soon. Actually I can't wait 'til he gets just a little bigger...then he can work the back of the boat while I drive...'scept I still won't get to reel in many fish.:lol:
