  1. Thanks for the reply. The boat sits in Oak Orchard creek with the lower unit submerged for weeks between trips. Now I know why many have their outboards lifted out of the water.
  2. 2.6 l V-6 overheats at high speed. New impeller, and still overheating. While checking t-stats, notice clogged with zebra mussels. Engine still is overheating, so I can I clear out these devils from the entire cooling system?
  3. Thanks for the link - This is exactly what I want to do.
  4. Original poster here - This powerhead came from Blackbird (1 outboard) They had it for almost 3 months (promised 2 weeks) It never ran well, always bogged down and now it is toast after overheating. The mech said the impeller was worn and old, although part of the rebuild was supposed to be a new impeller. The first time I started the engine, it could not hold idle. Checked the plugs and they were used and the wrong type. $3500 does not go far these days.
  5. Jeff - Thanks for info. I may have to go with the powerhead if I cannot find a marina that can handle a complete re-power.
  6. I have a 23 ft Sea Ox with the 235 Sea Drive on it. I just blew a 2 year old powerhead due to an overheat and want to re-power this boat. I live in the Pt Breeze area and am looking for a marina that may be able to handle glassing in the transom, installing a bracket, engine and new controls.
  7. I am a newbie to Lake Ontario - transplanted from the western basin of Lake Erie. There drift fishing was the way to catch fish. I have tried drifting for smallies and perch in the Pt Breeze area with little luck. Are there areas around here for bass/perch or should I just set the boat up for trolling?
