  1. forgot to mention why we've been told power and auto pilot out of question for any kicker - our Contender is stern drive. As a woman, I don't see the differnce as to why that is such a problem...but apparently all the men my husband has spoken to say that IS the problem, stern drive. I look at a stern drive and an outdrive right next to each other and can't see what the big deal is
  2. I wish you had a reply because we are researching how to add a kicker to our recently purchased '89 245 Contender. We have auto pilot and power steering and my husband dreads the idea he will not have either option with the kicker - we have spoken to MANY boat people and no one thinks we can get the kicker attached to power or auto pilot... Just yesterday we saw (2) other 245 Contenders off the Catt, Lake Erie and both had kicker motors. One was charter. We're going to try to contact the charter capt to see if he has any ideas. Name on boat was Capt. K Charters. We can't imagine he has a kicker without auto pilot, at least auto pilot! By the way, we're going with a 15hp kicker. Really just for trolling. Tom&Ruth
  3. Thank you all for opinions... Very much appreciated! Will order survey and see how it goes!
  4. We've never bought a boat this size nor this old. Looks great for the age. Current owners, father and son, local to us, they appear be up ad up about all info. Chev305 mercruiser, about 1,000 hrs. Shows normal wear and tear on pinstriping that husband wants to get it re-detailed to look prettier but it looks like it was well cared for. Does anyone have any concerns re: the Chev305 merc? Was used Lake Erie and we would continue to use in Lake Erie and hopefully take it Lake Ont. and thousand islands and Pa and OH of Lake Erie, for recreational and fishing. Asking price with all fishing gear and equipment is 12.5k. Hubby doesn't want nor care for the equipment or fishing gear, he has all his own and newer than this boat pkg. We are thinking of offering less than 12.5. includes trailer. Current boat we want to keep (for fishing) is 19ft lund. Hubby has 30+ yrs exp. Any opinions, concerns, etc about boat or motor would be appreciated. Thanks, Tom's wife
