  1. HI: Ive been fishing slinkeys for years on the Bella Coola in BC It should be similar to the Niagra. I roll my own slikeys using 1/2in.sections of 1/4in lead wire. I seal the lower end of the para cord but leave the top end open so that I can add or subtract lead piecs to just get a clean bottom bounce. To give me a release if I hang up I connect the slinkey to a three way with a paper clip the release pressure can be varied by using the first or second loop of the clip.
  2. Earlier I posted a question on soft bait for cut plug. Well I solved my own problem of getting a slow spiral spin on a soft bai.t . If you shove a piece of stainless wire down the middle of a soft bait and put a bend in the wire you get a nice slow spiral when you troll the bai at a slow speed. I guess I`m just a slow learner

As I mentioned in my introduction my favorite bait is cut plug herring. supplies in the salt chuck are abundant you simply make a dropline of multiple yellow flie and dropit overboard when the timing is right for the size you want and jig your supply of herring. However minnows are less easy to come by . I would like to find a source of bait scented soft plastic minnows suitable for plug cutting as bait > have searched the web for such a soft bait but have founf nothing ,Can anyone point me to a source. The key to a plug cut is a double obique cut just aft of the gill plate and the removal ofthe guts to leave a hollow body

Hi Lou Just want to thank you for letting me join your group. I last fished Lake Ontario out of Burlington back in 1975 so Im out of touch .I`m presently in British Columbia fishing interior lakes and the salt chuck. . I fish from a 30 foot sloop as base camp and troll or mooch from a dinghy for trout and salmon. My favoutie Bait is plug cut herring or minnows running behind a cowbell lure or a doger. I home build most of my lure so I Have some questions which I will post in the appropriate forum.
