  1. Hey Guys! I know its short notice, BUT...I'm Looking to book a charter in Sept. My wife is graduating from advanced nursing school at the end of August and when I aked her what she wanted for her graduation she said she'd really love to go on a salmon charter. Well twist my arm!! Any one have a recommendation for a charter for two people for two days including either a "lodge" setting accomodation or something close to it? She's really worked her A#* off to get through this school and I just want her to have a great time. My buddies and I have had charters in the past that were good for the guys but not appropriate for her, if ya get the picture. She's not a high maintenance woman by any means! She hunts, fishes, grew up farming etc.. can hang with the best of my buddies but it would be nice to have her experience a great time on the lake. Thanks for any recommendations in advance.
  2. could you please send me some more information and pics to [email protected] and asking price. Thank You.
  3. Will be coming up the 28th-1st. Staying at the Lakeview Motel in Youngstown. Last year we launched at Fort Niagara. Is Wilson a better location to launch this time of year? Last year the bite was good on the bar around that time but looking over the fishing reports no one has mentioned much about that area. Should I relocate or will that area still be decent? Surface temp maps are showing its still quite colder that direction. I'm a rookioe when it comes to LO so any info would be helpful. Thanks!!!!
  4. Exactly what I have! I think it is the boards that is causing the problems. Am going to try to make another set coming up to LO on the 28th so I need to be able to get them done by then.
  5. Anyone have an opinion or where to fish the last weekeend in April? Bellied up to the bar last year about the same time and did well for some "rookies". We baoted fish everyday however the weather wasn't the best. I have a smaller rig 19' with a tri hull and was wondring if Seneca would be more "forgiving" so to speak. Wouldn't worry about it so much but bringing my 9 yr old along and want to make sure we don't have a rough time. We would mainly be fishing for browns I have a feeling but might dwell into the cohos and lakers. I have never fished Seneca so any info would be greatly appreciated. If I do decide on Seneca is there a particular place anyone recommends to stay? Would be coming up on a Wed and leaving on Sun. Thanks!!
  6. The line doesn't hit the water and the release clips definately slide down fine. The boards are a Cabelas Outsider brand. I got them last year after the set of wooden planer boards I had for years got stolen up on Erie. These boards are poly but the leading edge is closest to the boat rather than the far board. It didnt make sense to me because they were opposite to any Ive ever seen or used. The guy had the original paper work with them and that is the way they are assembled. They run decent but not like my old ones. Im savin up for Otter Boats. They just aren't in the budget right now.
  7. I was wondering if there is a set height that the planer mast should be. I had some minor difficulty running my boards last year. They seemed to track pretty far back. My mast is at the very front of the bow and up off the deck roughly 5'. Would it help to get the mast higher?
  8. Thanks for all the help and replies. This site is awesome! Unfortunately it looks as if I will have to bring my own boat again this year its not the best set up for the bigger lakes but it does work. The construction business here is slow and the funds aren't looking good for a charter trip. We fished the bar at the end of April last year and did well for being "rookies". Any suggestions on where to hit the fish at the beginning of May to the middle of May? Would probably target browns but would love to get into the salmon also. Was thinking somewhere around Wilcott but I'm not sure. I will also need a reasonable place to stay if I change areas. Any information would be appreciated.
  9. Can anyone recommend a good reasonable Charter for May/ June? I am looking at 2 adults and 2 young adults 9yrs and 15yrs for a possible 2 day charter. The boys being along is my main concern. Would probably have to be a weekend trip or a partial weekend. Any information would be great.
  10. Thanks will give it a try. Thought about just drillin and running some all thread through the boards and setting an eye bolt in to pull. i think the boards are hollow though. I will do some more checking. They don't track bad, just not great. My mast is roughly 6' off the deck so that should put me pretty good there. Always trying to get the most out of what I have. If it can be fined tuned with a little advice I'm more than willin to give it a shot. i'm just arookie at this type of fishing and everyone has been really helpful I'm glad i found this site. it has helped me tremendously. My goal is to do more of this style of fishing than the bass tourneys and such. Thank You to all! 2 Weekends til I come up for a visit. not that I am Counting.
  11. Unfortunately I can't return them that's what you get for buying stuff on "close out". Lesson learned. I may have to order a set of Otter Boats. Not heard anything bad about them are they really worth the price?
  12. Here are the board pics for anyone who can offer some advice. THANKS Tom!
  13. Negative. There is only one way to put them together. The top of each baord has one bolt it goes into a hole in the 1 piece bracket. There are channels in which the planer boards set into,. The top bracket is the only thing that holds the boards together. You cant reverse them the beveled side would be the wrong way and the brackets are labeled left and right. If I can get a pic of them and post it today I will.
  14. Just purchased a new det of Cabelas Oustider planer baords by Wille. They seem to run decent but are the collapsable version instead of the wooden standard ones I had previous. My old boards got stolen from the storage unit where I had my boat. These new boards have the inside board closest to the boat out forward from the outer board. This does'nt seem right the inside board is supposed to be set back correct? There isnt any room for adjustment as they only have one place to bolt them through at the top and they sit into a track. They just dont run like my old boards they seem to run alot fuurther back to the rear of the boat. Any suggestions?
