  1. I do some walley on Erie and stripers on Reaystown. I bought some Depthmaster II LC Combos ( Rod and Reel) at Cabelas for 59.99 ea on sale. They have several different combos with rod sizes and reels both. Also have Whumpin Stick Combos for 54.99 ea. These are a take off of the ugly stick with a 7 year warranty on the rod. I used the depthmaster combos 8'6" MH last year and had no problems with them and the rods handled fine for large stripers, even my 8'6" M worked well and they didn't break the bank. I bought the Eagle Claw version this year because they were out of the DepthMaster rods same reel seem like a faster action, we'll see. All my reels were in the 30 series and came with walleye handles too. Not a bad deal.
  2. Thanks will make sure I put some in my arsenal. I'm a bass fisherman by far but ever since my first trip up and my first King I've been "hooked" so to speak. I know speed is important different baits don't all work at the same speed. Any suggestions on how to get a variety out there and still keep the actions correct?
  3. Thank You all! Being a "rookie " on the lake I need all the advice I can get.
  4. Coming up this spring for the first in a while without a charter. Anyone have any good tips on baits. Used to run rapalas J-5&7's. Still good? Any tips on spoon sizes or other baits. Just want to have fun and put some fish in the boat.
  5. Looking for some information regarding the best times and places to fish for browns and steelies in the spring. Haven't fished the lake for about ten years now. I used to come up with a co worker and fish with a guy named Jack. We stayed at North of the Ridge campground where Jack had his camper. Jack used to keep in radio contact with a gentleman from Blue Ribbon Charters if I remember correctly. I think we went out of somewhere near Point Breeze. I have a 21' rig with a 115 hp of my own now, not what I really wanted but it gets me on the water! I have planer board set ups ( both tow line and in line) plus downriggers. I fished a little for walleyes on Erie last year and did some fishing at Raystown for stripers and lakers. I am looking to make a few trips this spring probably near the end of April or early May for the first trip to try my luck. Any suggestions on where to stay (reasonably), where to launch and most of all where to fish would be greatly appreciated. I am only a recreational fisherman when it comes to this style of fishing and am grateful for any tips tactis that might help put a few fish in the boat. Thanks for your time!
