  1. My troll speed might also be an issue. I have a 150hp mercury and I think on the slowest setting its probably 5-7 mph. I may have hooked those fish when I was making turns where slack in the line let the lures sink or slow down.....might be time to invest in a smaller trolling motor!!!
  2. Ray you goof, it's MY girl not his! I'm using 8lb and 10lb test right now. If the line twists I wonder if that's what would cause my board to almost skip arcross the surface. I couldn't figure that out yesterday. I will look into the line weights at walmart today and give it a whirl if this damn weather ever improves!
  3. I just blew all my money on a gorgeous Bayliner Trophy and cant afford riggers or anything fancy at the moment. Last week Mon-Tues I had great luck and landed 5 nice browns and lost two just flat lining (running about 100-150 feet of line from two poles behind the boat). I was using spoons, pink and black with yellow eyes was the best. I have two yellow bird boards, kinda small...they look like bass and walleye boards actually, and run maybe 50' line behind them, and they are probably 30-40 feet off the boat on the sides. I have had NO LUCK. Maybe it's just been the horrible weather, but what can I do in the meantime that doesn't involve riggers? Should I add a split shot like 8 feet about the spoons while flat lining? I use spoons only right now b/c they are usually heavier than my smithwicks and will go down farther while trolling. I have one dipsy diver left but gave up since my first one snagged on a rock and I lost it. I got a bit frustrated. I am running around the Oswego Harbor and then heading east up behind fort in 10-20 ft water. Due to the east winds I am thinking I should head west today. Any insight would be great as I am taking my girlfriend and a buddy this Saturday and want them to have fun.
  4. I know the weather hasn't been favorable, but I have been trolling the harbor all last week (Caught some BTs in 5-10ft water) running two boards with about 8-10 ft line behind board. Using stick baits and have tried all colors. No luck. I know the river is still off limits but has anyone else had any luck?
  5. Name: Nick Location: Oswego, NY Home Port: Wright's Landing Boat Name/Type: 87 Invader I fish for: Bass, Walleye, Perch, Pike ================== Just wanted to say thanks for having me. Im 28 yrs old and I bought my first boat last year and saved up enough cash to park it at Wrights. I love being out on the water even if I am not fishing. Everyone at the marina has been so nice and pleasant to meet so far. I look forward to seeing you on the water!
  6. I have a slip at Wrights Landing finally!!! I am taking my father fishing Saturday morning. I am new to the lake and have no clue where to go. I have googled with not much luck. I have scoped out areas with visible structure and my fish finder goes balistic over by flat rock where the break wall is. We will be using live bait as it's his preferred method (minnows and crawfish). Is there some place in particular in the area I can take him that will produce some nice catches? I would imagine 30-ish foot of water just casting towards shore would be just fine up and down the beach in front of the college or the area around flatrock. Any tips to a noob would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    Oswego Perch

Hello, I just moved to Oswego..I live by the water near Breitbeck Park actually. I have been walking down below the park to fish with night crawlers or fathead minnows. I've gone at night the past few weeks for Bullhead but caught nothing (it has been colder though) nor can I seem to find perch. I dont think I can fish in the Marina there (Wrighs Landing) since the docks are afloat and there are boats in there now. I am just wondering if I am wasting my time fishing this area or if perhaps I am just too early. Last spring I caught a couple REAL nice Perch (10 inches or bigger) fishing right below the park in about 5 foot of water, I think I just got lucky with a school in the area. For Bullhead I have nailed them at Ox creek in Fulton, and I even tak trip up to Wellesley Island to Eel Bay. But closer to home would be much more desirable
