  1. They swapped units out. My other one they said was bad. I never had a problem with the other one untill it would not power up. :( I should not have any voltage problems since I converted my charging system to the alternator but most of the time I just run the kicker. I disconnect all the power in my boat at the end of every trip, but if I leave power going to my Lowrance then it seems to have no problems. I'm 100% sure its the unit. It just has a problem enabling the built in GPS receiver. So I always have to go in and enable it and it takes time to configure.

    The Lamprey went back in the water after it met the guillotine :devil: It should make a a seagull very happy :lol:

  2. Left the gates with an :@:@ toward Lowrance. They sent me a new HDS 7 after mine took a dump back in May and every time I take it out the GPS does not work and I have reprogram it to start the GPS but this time even that did not work. But after a half hour it just started to work out of the blue. It needs to go back to Lowrance but I don't want to give it up cause I do not have a back up ;(

    It was a slow day for us but we caught some healthy lake trout. We took 3 home that were 4 to 5lbs and through the rest back. We fished shallow and out deep. Surface temp was 74 to 75. Down Temp varied but 40 ft down it ran 56 to 59. Before we packed up while we were over deep water I noticed a lot of bait up top and I had a hunch. So I through an R&R spoon out. Wam bam. 17" Bow. :)

  3. I forth the vapor lock! Open your gas cap on the tank and if she runs better then you know if it is vapor locking problem. If this is the case you have a blockage in the vent line on your gas tank. What is happening is your motor is pumping fuel out of the gas tank. As gas is being pumped out of the tank air is being pulled into the tank to fill the empty space. If there is a blockage or "restriction"on the air flow then the motor will not be able to pump the fuel and cause the motor to quite caused by the lack of fuel. The back firing is most likely the cause of pumping your throttle so much that your flooding the motor out. Hope this make sense. Please let us know how you make out. Good luck!

    I think what Ray was getting at was a low fuel problem. The port that sucks gas in the tank must be sumerged in the fuel at all times or it will suck air and have similar issues. It may not be a low fuel problem if the port that sucks fuel is to short in the tank and not reaching to the bottom of the tank. If it is a rough out the fuel will be moving all around the tank allowing that port to suck air if this is the case. But it does not sound like it.

    It really scarys me that I might be opperating on Ray K's brain wave length! ;(

    Have fun on your trip to Alaska! I have been hearing a lot about it from Al's wife. I'm not sure who his more excited. Al or his Wife! :lol:

  5. Landlock salmon are all over. My suggestion would be run some sliders on your downriggers. I been running 6 to 7 ft leaders with small stinger spoons for my sliders. I have 3 downriggers and I typically park them 40, 50 and 60. I use a lot of different color spoons and I have been finding what's hot one day is completely dead the next so don't be afraid to change it up. Hope this gets you the big one.

  6. I took Josh, Paul, Bob and Luce out fishing for a little over 4hrs. Josh and I both worked all night so we were on the fatigued side of things but we love our fishing. We launched at myers and motored S of Taug. and set up. We trolled trolled N to the Boyscott camp then circled back to Taug. We then crossed the lake to the East side and fished N to the plant. Then we called it cause Bob and a graduation party for his niece back at Myers. :clap:

    We landed 1 14" Bow, 4 LL's, and 4 LT. Biggest Laker was over 5lbs. I parked my riggers at 40, 50 and 60 with sliders. Sliders took most of the fish. I through a lot of tackle at the fish but nothing really was working for us.

    Temp at 40' down was 56 to 58
