  1. Hey Gill-T.. Yes.. And thanks again so much.. Those Mud Pigs really made the trip for us..
  2. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 4/11 - 4/15 Time on Water: 41 Hours Weather/Temp: Varied Wind Speed/Direction: Varied Waves: 0-3' Surface Temp: 38-48 Location: Olcott West LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: Total Boated: Species Breakdown: Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: Down Speed: Boat Depth: Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== First of all a big THANK YOU to the site for the advice I received before coming up. We started off on Monday trolling for browns and managed a few fish before being blown off the water. A trip to Niagara Falls and a surprise winfall @ the Seneca Casino saved the day so it wasn't a total loss.. Tuesday.. Fished mostly Olcott west to the mansions in the mud and we were into them hard. Trying to keep all six lines in the water was next to impossible. Trolling speed around 2.5 on GPS fishing in 7-10 FOW. Firetiger Flat Rap #9 was a big winner as well as Hot Steel Rapala in F7 size. Kept a few for eating but prob released 25 fish. Wednesday the rains came.. Again morning bite was decent (nothing like tuesday) water had cleared up and more natural baits were the ticket, again 7-10 FOW. 9lb Brown and 5lb+ Smallie were the highlights.. Headed out and found the lakers in the afternoon with good success.. Thursday.. Not much happening in the BT dept in the am. Water was very clear and the wind had died down to a whisper.. Out to the Lakers we head.. OMG.. When i tell you that between the three of us we hooked and released over 30 Lake Trout that day it is no fish story. We only ran two riggers most of the time because three produced some triples that were hard to manage. Greasy Chicken, Goby Glow, Orange Crush and Sodus Buckeye were the hot spoons.. 60-80 FOW. They seemed to be suspended 10-15' off the bottom in the deeper water but were pretty much huggin it in closer. Guys it was unreal. Originally being from Maine Lakers (or togue as we call em) were not so much a "settling" species as they were a welcome addition for our crew. We burped and released all but two (a 14lb'er that my buddy caught and an 18lb 11oz Pig that I caught that is headed for the wall). Friday was a complete hurricane so we didn't get out at all.. Thanks Again to the fine folks on here and to the two guys that gave us some Laker tips @ the dock (I think they posted pics on here as well).. Oswego in August.. Can't wait for the Kings..
  3. Thanks a lot guys. I appreciate the info.. Brown Trout are going to be our main target and the Cohos will be the back-up plan. We usually move out and go for them when the BT stop cooperating. Actually got a nice Atlantic out of Olcott last year but again, we were a week later. So this year we figured we'd try to hit up the bar one day. I don't expect anyone to give up a spot or anything but I've always wanted to target the Lakers. Can you give me an idea of a FOW to start out with? And are they always pretty much hanging on bottom? I am guessing big bright spoons and maybe a dodger/fly combo. Thanks again. Tight Lines..
  4. Coming up to Olcott April 10-16. (Hope it's not too early but it's the only week I could get off from work) Couple of quick questions please if you'll indulge me.. I am definitely going to check out the Niagara Bar this year. How long a boat ride is it from Olcott? Is it worth fishing the ride or better just to run up there? Also, if the Niagara Bar was the target area of the day would it be better just to trailer up and launch closer? One more... Although I am confident it will show up on the GPS, are there any visual markers to make sure you don't accidentally find yourself in Canada? Thanks is advance guys.. GREAT SITE!!
