  1. @boatingguy I took my boating licence online and it was not too bad. Like anything, you get out of it what you put in....
  2. fishing in the Yukon is awesome!! I usually quadded in and either took a belly boat or an electric motor as a lot of the lakes had boats stashed at them. You would almost always have the lake to yourself. For bigger water fishing, I have caught some monster lake trout on Teslin lake. There is also salmon fishing in some Yukon rivers, but the ocean and the rivers feeding it are not far away. It is very easy to love fishing in a place like that!
  3. Cool, thanks. I thought I would do a bit of poking around out infront of oshawa in some deeper water and out infront of the Pickering nuke plant. As far as all the safety gear etc goes, the only thing I do not have back yet is the boat license. I am still waiting for it in the mail.
  4. Its up in Canada, to the east of Toronto. Just to the east of the Pickering nuclear plant.
  5. I have recently moved to the Ajax area from the Yukon and I would love to get out on the lake fishing. I am just looking for some tips or pointers on what is biting at what time of year and approximate places that are good for fishing. I am not looking for someone to give up their secrets, but just a bit of direction on where to start. If I get my boat ready in time, I am hoping to get out tomorrow and just poke around with the fish finder on. Should I be taking a rod with me? Any direction, would be greatly appreciated.
  6. ok, so I topped the reservoir right up. The beeping is still there. It is there with the ignition turned on but the motor not running. I found 2 grey wires coming from the bottom of the oil reservoir. I disconnected one of them and the beeping stopped. I connected it again, and the beeping was back. I am suspecting a faulty sensor as the beeping is there even when the motor is not running. Just to be safe, can I run a 50:1 gas:oil mix and disconnect this wire?? Will it effect the overheat sensor?
  7. Thanks for the info!! I'll get out there and give it a whirl.
  8. I am fairly new to ontario - moved here from the Yukon not too long ago. I want to get out on Lake Ontario for some fishing and I was just looking for some tips. What are the best times of year, What sort of setups work best etc. Any help would be appreciated. I live in Ajax, so I will likely be launching out of the Whitby harbour.
  9. Thanks, I'll try filling the engine mounted oil reservoir and Ill check all the connections... I'm not sure of the exact age, but it is a mid to late 80's 80 horse. Thanks for the help so far..
  10. any idea how I check the oil injection?? It is not overheating as it is beeping right on start up now
  11. I have a mid to late 80's 80 horse merc. I had it out a couple of weeks ago and it ran fine. About 20 mins in we got a bit of a jar from a wave and the throttle control started beeping (not continuous) I thought maybe it was an overheat signal so I went back in. Went out a couple of days later and it was still beeping on start up. The oil reservoir is at least 2/3rds full. What does a non continuous beeping usually mean and could it just be a short?
