Huh?  The lake is alive and well.  My suggestion is to book a charter and find out.  The amount of species AND size found in Lake Ontario make it a WORLD CLASS FISHERY.

I think u missed understood my post,,,take the stocking out of lake o,, I also had a great fall for perch,,, referring to on the lake,, for the record I have won loc Eslo derbies fished pro am's won many tournaments.

So guys is it bait related to mussels or poltical? Or the ecosystem failing? One thing is certain as of right now take the stocking program out of the equation lake o is pretty dead..the smallmouth perch walleye fishing is bad,, not referring to east end for walleye but the lake as a whole isn't really diversified.

Assuming the decline is related to food for alwife caused by zebra mussels and such why wouldn't lake O have the same destiny as MICHIGAN and HURRON?

Long as we have zebra mussels we have a grave problem. ZOOPlankton is key for the alwife. ...they need to eat it's that simple.

If your going to try it guys the best time is usually 2 hours past sundown.  

In fisherman did a series on night time kings,. They Caught a ton so I gave it try very effective with glow. It's really crazy hearing your line screaming in darkness.

I suspect we are destined for the same fate. Perch are limited bass smallmouth way down,, no walleye ... meanwhile gobies and muscles destroying and eating the food for bait,,,

Done that been there more times than I would like to admit. It happens quick Scan the weather on Vhf     Know your boat watch for the signs......Glad you guys made it back safe.

Last year was great,,, started late August through November.. The low water warm temps etc have made it tough... there out in the Lake.. with some getting good catches. Big Perch.

I really thought when I posted the Info, some would have tried it by now.. Its where they are,,, Guys would be trolling for salmon and I would be making drift after drift,, killing jumbo lake perch.

As I stated I was closed mouth about it.. Guys who read this post need to give it a shot, Sadly I just sold my boat,, an offer I couldn't refuse. I will be looking again for another soon.

Your absolutely right, I have had great success fishing the lake out in front all the way through October catching huge perch, So here goes guys, I suggest that you go from the center of the River and or at the head of the Summerville pier start searching between 20 to 60 feet of water. Look for the schools, Try minnows, or pan fish jigs with worms or spikes drifting, Some may want to anchor, I suggest drifting and go from there. Do not be afraid of a good breeze,, I have caught big perch all day in 2-3 footers.

You will find the fish from center of the River East of the Summerville pier maybe far as a half mile or more East of the pier (Summerville). Make your drift again . If the schools are there just keep working the schools as they seem to move, just keep working back and forth, I f you decide to anchor after while try it.

I found the perch out there by accident back in 2006 drifting flatfish for Salmon and trout. I have not told many about this but what the heck. I caught huge limits while guys were all in the bay through October; Let me know how it works out.
