  1. Always looking for more help with our pen-rearing project at Sodus Bay. Tom Frank owner of Capt. Jack's has done it the past few years, but is giving it up next year due to lack of support from those that make their living from the fishery. It is an on going battle every year to get helpers to commit to the project. L.O.C.B.A. has been supporting it for many, many years, along with local groups, Eagle scouts, and others. Our Pro-Am tournement raises money each year to continue the project. We are always looking for more on hands support. I have not heard of any takers for this coming spring. But that is no suprise. I send out nasty-grams every early spring looking for support. Seeing that L.O.C.B.A. has joined forces with the Genesse Charter Boat Association recently, I'm not sure of what may happen in the future. John Arney at Arneys Marina has given us space for the project for several years at no charge. We have two pens, and receive 50 thousand fingerlings each April, 25,000 per pen. Krenzer Marine has shown interest for next year,, but no final committment or approval. And just so you know, it all has to be approved by the D.E.C. as far as location, tempature, flow, and other factors. It is not an easy deal, believe me. That is why it is such a hassel every year.I hate to see this project fall by the wayside as our fishery at Sodus gets better every year, and I'm sure the pen-rearing project is a major factor. Let me know if you are interested and I'll point you in the right direction.Thanks. Dane

  2. Slammed em on dipsys this past weekend. Hammer time spinnie with ultra green glow Atommik out 275 and white green dot Protroll with glow green hammer Atommik out 300. Judging I was out in 350 to 450 I would decrease those lengths 50 to 100 foot. Fish the marks. If I remember right on a 2 setting depth wise is roughly 3 to 1. Good luck. Fish should start pushing in.

  3. Thanks for the welcome! We did indeed buy the Nellis's place. Nice place as they were meticulous which other than mowing leaves me lots of time to fish. We have been up at the Oak the last seven years (the last two no boat in the water due to a bit of cancer treatment) so have been a it spoiled by deep water quick! Love the quiet of the bay and being able to fish it as well. Took my neighbors son bass fishing for his first time yesterday -he had a blast! look forward to fishing tomorrow before our last soccer game.

I have a friend 2 houses on the right from you that I visit a lot and my boats at my grandfathers right now towards West port bay road on graves point. The nellis's were good family friends of ours and I'm sure you will enjoy that house.

  4. When I first got into this sport heavy 3 years ago I ran whatever was cheapest and quite simply I could not get a strike on flasher fly. Then one day I saw what became known to me as the green hammer. Ten minutes in the water behind a mt dew spin doctor took my biggest king at the time. I still have that fly no matter how shredded it may be it still produces on days I'm struggling. To this day I only run Atommik. I love em.
