  1. Does anyone know of a car top/small boat launch site on East Bay?  I have a small pontoon boat that would be good for this size water, but I need to drag it to launch it, because my 10 year old is not strong enough to help carry yet.

  2. Has anyone ever had any success fishing bass on the Erie Canal?  I have a little pontoon boat that I want to try some small water bass/panfishing but don't want to waste my time if it sucks.

  3. Went out last night to a beautiful evening on the water, small rollers less than a foot all the way.  Started in about 150 FOW marking some bait, but very little action on the screen.  Set a rigger at 125' and one at 140', plus dipseys at 225 and 180 with NK's green/black/silver/blue.  Rigger had a green flasher/fly and other ran a black/green NK.  Continued to work NE and found some good 50-55 degree water in about 200 FOW about 150 down, but still very few marks and little bait.  Found a few decent scum lines with good temp but never moved a single rod and trolled until dark.  We had  my son and his buddy out and had hopes for some action, but still better than cutting grass.

  4. I installed a new Fish Hawk X4 on my 1997 Starcraft fishmaster last week.  Went out on the water to fish with boards last week, and left down probe at home because I had no plans on using it.  The unit powered up fine at home, but when out on the water kept flashing and requiring me to scroll through the different data points i.e. surface temp, speed, down temp (which shouldn't be since the probe was at home), and down speed.  Once I scroll through settings and save, the unit seems to run for a few seconds then shut itself off.  I called fish hawk to see if they could help me out with the issue.  First of all, that company is awesome!  Not only are they helpful, but timely, and genuinely concerned about my issue (you don't get that very oftern these days).  They asked me what motor was on my boat and if it happened to be a late 90's or early 2000 Mercury.  It happens to be a 1997 mercury 115HP.  They told me that these model years of outboard seem to have "open grounds" that cause power spikes which causes the Fish hawk LCD to trip its internal breaker designed to protect it.  the solution is to replace the spark plugs on the engine to "R" plugs which will correct the issue.  Anybody else experience something like this?

  5. I would love to take my kids to catch a few. We have always headed to the west of bear creek and encountered dead water with no fish. I have almost given up on trying to fish Lake Ontario smallmouth. My kids don't have enough patient to troll for salmon. I stare at all the equipment I have and wish I lived back down in the finger lakes where the bass were everywhere. Any advice would be awesome. Thanks.
