  1. If you already have the 2 down rigger rods then go ahead and stack them like you plan but if not then get yourself a set of wire diver rods instead. Run one rigger and one wire diver off each side to start out. You will get more addicted from there but that is the way to start.

    Flashers, (spindoctors and echips) not dodgers, the flashers are alot more speed forgiving. Get some whites based colors, the dots are always good or plain white/glow crush. Get some chrome based colors, like Cpt Valium or double chrome. Get some green and some chartruese with glow tape, I use these most in echips/protrolls. That will be a good start for flashers.

    Hey Jason, I picked up a half dozen rods and reels with two being dedicated as wire diver rods. def will pick up some spin doctors and e-chips, thanks!

    like stated above. white, white /green dots, white/blue, silver, green double glow. as far as flies, attommik b-fly original, hammer, green crinkle, white. a big winnie fly that has been really good first thing in the morning is rons morning wood with a white/blue flasher. the b fly original is a sunny day fly run it with the silver flasher.

    Excellent, thank you!

  2. So I am heading out tomorrow to stock up on tackle. I'm just wondering what I should grab since I'm just starting out. I have begun buying spoons but needed some extra advice. I'm hoping that you guys can let me know what other Items are important for chasing salmon. I'm looking to stack two rods on my down riggers. So maybe some stacker releases? Any preferences? How about flashers and dodgers, what size should I be looking to buy or is there any particular color that works best. Any advice on what tackle I should be shopping for or any advice of what I should have on my boat before heading out would be greatly appreciated.

  3. ! Maybe you should have to be a professional to be able to post in classifieds at least then they would jave to shell out $20 to post here?

    Maybe a minimum post count..lets say 20 post on the forum before you can sell in the classified section? One thing I do notice on other forums is that a healthy and active classified section brings in a lot of traffic which is good for the forum owners.

  4. Nothing wrong with setting up rigger poles with spinning reels. You will have a hard time finding left hand reels with line counters or ones that hold enough line for long copper.

    Yeah, I see that they are rare. Okuma Convectors actually come in a left hand retrieval with a counter. I'm sure I can get used to the right hand with time though..

  5. Buy the best you can afford. If you can afford a $200.00 reel, buy a Daiwa Saltist 30. If you can't, go with a Daiwa Sealine sg47lca or sg47lcx.

    I wish I could afford $200 reels but I'm looking to completely outfit my boat and that would put me well over budget. maybe $100-$150 per a complete rod/reel.

    Any Input on Diawa heartland trolling rods? Fishusa has a rod/reel combo for $139? http://www.fishusa.com/Daiwa-Heartland- ... eel_p.html

  6. Just picked up my first lake boat. It is equipped with two Canon electric down riggers. I have absolutely no rods or reels at the moment. Was hoping to get some advice on what to look for. Looking to run a few rods off the riggers and maybe a couple of dipsy rods as well. Length rods? Size reels? Any entry level rods or reels that I should consider? Any input would be appreciated..

    ==================

    Just wanted to introduce my self. I am an avid steelhead fisherman but always in the creeks and rivers. I have owned boats in the past but all in the salt. So for the upcoming fathers day my wife decides to give me an early present! It is a 22' Galaxy walkaround that was listed in the classified section of this forum. viewtopic.php?f=10&t=31949&p=188439&hilit=galaxy#p188439. Being totally new to lake fishing I am sure I will have a ton of question about tackle and rigging, so just want to thank everyone in advance..
