  1. Willy, I know. Someone told me yesterday why it should be changed in the fall and not in the spring. My garage is attatched to the house and is somewhat insulated. Temp. In there does not go below 0, and i never had anything freeze inside - keep all my bottled water in there.

Anyway, hopefully there will be no rust in there. I'll find out in few hours.

  2. My personal opinion, if your planning on trolling with a small motor, bite the bullet, and get yourself a small gas powered engine. 4-6hp.

Forget the electric motor for trolling in the big O. My top of the line terrova with ipilot etc was ok on FLAT lake. As soon as the currents kicked in, or the waves were bigger than half a meter, it was useless.

Also, if your main motor fails, forget of getting to the shore on the electric crap. Small gas powered one will get you there :)

  3. Sk8, 60 gallon??? ouch!!! I drive a chevy 2500 quad cab, long box with a 6L V8, costs me 9.40$ to drive it 100km ;P i converted it to run propane and gasoline:) pay 47$ to fill it up:)

..... apparently it is not good for all carburated engines.

  4. Just out of curiosity, what type of fuel do you guys use for your outboards? Read some stuff yesterday about ethanol and how it acts as a "filler" in regular gas etc...

Later on did some research to find out that there is many gas stations in Ontario that sell ethanol free gasoline. While buying smokes at my neighbourhood ESSO spoke to the owner of the gas station and agreed that his premium gasoline (91) DOES NOT contain ethanol. I guess i know what i will use from now on in my 50HP 2 stroke Merc.

Spoke to guy at Petro Canada gas station, 94octane gas is without ethanol... will continue asking....

  5. I have my ham radio licence issued by the canadian government and I operate everyday on vhf and hf. Most if the time on 2 meters which is slightly lower than the marine frequencies.I'm curious if hams are allowed on the marine part of the spectrum
