  1. Fished the O for long time and still do. I use an App called-Wind Alert- can get in apple or android format. In short it will allow you to check into you're favorite spots and get current wind direction and speed but more importantly the history of you're favorite and of course the forecasted winds.

Wouldn't be without it especially now that I've gotten rid of my power boat and fish from kayak

  2. I have kayak fished Seneca many times over the past year and have heard the warnings of how quick it can come upon you, and I appreciate you're advice.

I fished lake O for 15 years and have gotten caught in some treacherous waves, and every time it happened I thought i was smarter than the marine forecast. That was my young days. Now I'm an older man who finally realises that there's always another day. Thx

  3. Was out in my kayak on Keuka this am, paddle trolling and not getting anything and there were two small boats that appeared with fishermen in the back of their boat holding the fishing line in their hands and jigging what looked small silver spoons. They were trolling slow picking up the occasional fish, big enough that they used nets to land them. Never did see what how big or what they were. Does anybody have any insight on this technique? Been fishing for too many years to think about and never have seen or heard of this.

  4. I used to slip at Genny, besides all the usual complaints of fish boat ownership I could never really figure out how, I would put the boat away in fall in realitivly good working order and when I pulled it out in the spring I would have to lay out another thousand or so(35 years ago dollars) for whatever gremlin was in there all winter doing his mischievous stuff. Now I own a kayak, dont have to deal with ride along boat jerks, registration, C G inspections, insurance, marina owners and more.

My ownly worry is pot smokin redneck bass fisherman driving motorized missiles

  5. One of the apps I use is called wind alert, can get for I phone or android. I fish Lake Ontario a lot and it is invaluable. You can create a list of weather stations for the ports you fish and with a tap of the screen not only see what the velocity and wind direction is but even more importantly tap again and see the last 24 hours of history. Also can see what wind velocity, speed and direction are predicted for that particular port. Has saved me a lot of time and gas

  6. I use a sabiki rig to get bait, yesterday at Charlotte I was getting shiners when as I looked this one looked different, and sure enough it had par markings. This fish was the same size as the shiners I was catching and was,on closer inspection either a 3 inch long trout or salmon. I got about a dozen shiners and in that time caught 4 more trout/salmon. All were released with care. Point being that the Genny is a place that is a somewhat productive spawning ground and that the fall fishing? Should be more closely monitored by dec.
