  1. I think I'll just stick to shallow spring brown fishing in low winds. Without a kicker motor, and with the boat so light, I don't go that far anyway.
  2. Hello to all! I have just discovered this fantastic lake! I have a very basic 16-ft Smoker Craft Voyager (thin-hulled aluminum) with a 15-HP Honda tiller on it. My first attempt at Ontario was 2 weeks ago in a canoe (don't laugh). Hung out in the shallows at Mexico point and lost many worms to gobies. Switched to a large jighead, and nailed some beautiful 3lb+ smallies. Hooked! I mostly still fish in smaller lakes (drop jigs mostly for perch), and don't have enough boat to get out to the salmon, but thought I'd try for the spring browns next year. Very new to trolling, so I might have to throw out a planer board and see what happens. Plan to read a whole lot of posts between now and then. I might be asking a bunch of technical questions, so beware!
