Wondering the best place to put a planer mast or maybe just the reels... I thought about putting one up front of the boat away from everything...

depends... wooden boards are all different sizes. Curious, why does weight matter?
The boards I have are old and heavy and they sit low in the water and when it’s rough they like to dive like a dipsey...not fun

Big Jon Otter Boats all the way. They are literally in the water every day I am out.
Are they lighter then the double planer Woden ones?

What’s the best or lightest planner board? I have a old pair of boards that serve the purpose but have had issues with them diving under the water and they are heavy and rough on the mast to pull through rough chop

We went east of olcott on Sunday and started in front of the radio tower going towards the power plant..set up in 80 Dow and got all of the ten color leadcore and was just about to clip it to the board and off it went-15# king...set it back out and dipsey went off with a 14# king and by 7:30 we had 8 bites and all kings all off just two poles because we couldn’t get our full spread out...finally slowed down enough so I could get the other dipsey out and then it took off...then by 11 it just died...I mean couldn’t even find a mark dead... but we had 11bites and all kings and never dropped one...biggest was 17 pounds...back out this morning to the same spot...dead...no marks no bait no boats...been out to 150 and back in to 60 and nothing....it is what it is I guess, why it’s called fishing

Just poking the minds of other fishermen...say your fishing from the 50-100fow...what would be your spread? I’m thinking a 300copper on one side with maybe a 7-10color core on the other and maybe another rod on each planer board with a dipsey set off each side set on 2...and not sure if I’d stack the riggers or just single line down...what’s your thoughts gentlemen

I’ll be up from the 17-21 of May... can only hope for good weather and fish...have to wait and see what depths to target when the time gets closer...rain and water temp is one thing and LOC is another factor

Have heard of much going on from LOC members as to how the fishing had been on the west end of the lake...been mostly east end....I’d like to hear some good reports coming out of the western ports

Was one of the first to get in the doors this morning, I don’t think they had as many vendors as normal...was looking for a large hoop net and some rod holders and tracks...nobody had anything like that and a lot of used beat up flasher and dodgers and spoons that I already have....but it was nice to get out and talk to some guys and get ready for the upcoming season
