  1. I tried finding to mountain last year but was unsuccessful.. I had an old fish finder that would randomly go into demo mode and it was my first year fishing Lake Ontario. I watch a lot Bill Saiff videos because he seems to be the only one who talks about the area.. He has 6 charter boats ( I think it's 6) out of Henderson Harbor. YouTube Bill Saiff Outdoors (BSO) there are a ton of videos.. He talks about all the species of fish, where to find them, even what colors to use in your spread.

I would love to fish out of Henderson. Its not very far from me ( I am at Fort Drum) but the water is cold on this end of the lake. I usually drive down the highway and launch out of Mexico point or Oswego.. The fishing just seems to be better down there. It maybe that I just don't know the area up here very well. I also fish out of the black river at Dexter. I was there a few days last week and guys were catching pike but they are out of season now. A buddy of mine was there also and he said the pike were aggressive hitting crank baits close to the dock. Any advice about the area would be much appreciated!

  3. Yes.. I would think so.. With all the rain and warmer (above freezing) weather that is forecasted I would almost bet money that the ramp will be clear or at least clear enough to launch your boat. Just be aware that the dock that is usually in the center has been taken out of the water.. I don't know when they usually put it back in the water. When I launched out of there on Sunday we didn't have to pay the $6 fee. The meter was covered..

  4. We went out of Mexico point. We only caught two small Browns.. The ramp was clear just a little ice. We went to the salmon river mouth but there was a lot of ice floating around do we went near pleasant point and that's where we caught the Browns.. There was some big swells but the lake was very calm and smooth by about 1pm.. It definitely felt good to be on the lake in February.. Lol the weather couldn't have been better for February!!

  5. I have been looking at reviews of the Helix 5 on here and I see people have the same complaints about the small screen. I am leaning towards getting the Helix 7 after the holidays. I am in the same situation as you. I am using a old black and white lowrance right now. I mostly use it just for depth. It keeps just randomly turning off on me at the end of the season. I will definitely have a new one before spring. There was a charter captain on here the posted the optimal settings for the hummingbirds. If you look for it on this site I am sure you will find it!

  6. Thanks fellas! I am kinda excited for Sunday!

Bobber: We are going Christmas shopping all day Saturday so my wife said me and my daughter can go fishing all day Sunday.

Yankee Troller: how deep and how far down would the salmon be? I don't think we will venture out too far but it's always an option especially if the lake is calm. Thanks in Advance!
