  1. Glad someone is catching something! Went Sat morning, boat on trailer leaving Stony at 930. Weather forecast was about 4hrs off on wind. Made 1 troll down trench, packed up and beat our way back to Stony. Fish aren't worth beating up the boat and equipment and each other. Not enjoyable to me. Will pick a calmer day. Marked a few in trench near wall. No takers. Fleas were not at all bad and yes they are large, easy cleanup for once. Fished over 100-120. Most marks were around 50-60'. Water temp was around 48.

  2. Thanks for giving me an idea what to do tomorrow in the morning!! Yes wind has been a little gnarly it seems, usually August it calms a bit, but this year.....and on the days I have off it seems.
Just what I like to hear! Large fleas!! Lol! Make cleanup after easier!
I'll try to post as we go tomorrow. Last time we went out the temp was all over. Just fish the marks and try is all we can do.

  3. And the best part is it just isn't powered boats. I had idiots in yaks going between me and shore while I was fishing an island! Really?! Yes staying away from River is a good idea during idiot season. But, when you have to fish it for a tournament, it sucks! Everyone should have to go thru a class to even think about stepping foot into . Should be same as a driver's license. Under 18 need an adult and a permit. My 2 cents.

  4. Went out Monday from Stony launch. If you follow the channel, you won't have any problems getting out. I have a 21' Trophy that I fish out of. The guide that runs out of Stony has a Penn Yan monster that he has no issues getting out either. Follow the buoys. Channel swings closer to shore than you realize. Shallowest I seen is 4' to transducer when I go. Trans is 18" under water. Just my 2 pennies.
Now to the fishing, 2 for 3. Little skipper off dipsy with spoon. Other 2 rigger F/F. Reason lost one is hook broke. Other, salmon antics. Fished 100 fow, 70' is where we found good water temp. Fleas still a pain in ass! Need good North winds to blow them back to other end of lake! Lol! Hopefully make it back out this weekend. If it rains, definitely!!

  5. Went to trench for a boat ride today, marked fish in 80' early just out of cut. Dropped lines. Nothing. Trolled out to 130', didn't mark much, moved back up toward Black River bay, marked fish in 70', dropped lines and at noon hooked up a small male in front of bass island. Going back tomorrow and start in bay and see what happens. 52 degree water was around 60'.

  6. In response to wash the boat, mine is washed EVERY time a fish comes on board with bleach/water mix in a safe ratio. Boat washed EVERY time it comes out water as I trailer it. Used therma cell, insect repellent, so far, layer up or just don't go! Have same problem on bass boat with the little biting bastards. I am not into chemical warfare or endangering myself/others/environment. Would love to find something that actually works and won't have any long term effect!

  7. Hope your mentor has a quick recovery! Being out will help.

Would get more responses if you posted this topic in the NY fishing reports section. I have fished and launched out 3 mile 3 days last weekend. Fri was a good day, Sat all we caught were sheep head in same spots we caught edible fish day before. Sun was a ghost town! Bait dissipated! Lost a good Pike at back of boat, only fish we hooked. Looking forward to this weekend follies! Gonna rig deep and run for salmon, something different. Good luck!

  8. Sorry, I should say it's not a Lake Ontario fish color is light and body mass, this time of year on the lake they're putting on the girth for winter!
