Have you considered using a trolling plate? Drift bags are great for jiggin or helping to  counteract the affects of the wind but they may not be your best choice for controlling your forward speed.

Check literature for a factory reset. If you can’t find one try google or call lowrance. Hope you are able to work it out. - rob

I heard they were coming westward and would stop at the Orleans county line. Sure would be nice if they went all the way. Just hearsay no real source.

We run 4 down riggers wired into regular a/c outlet boxes. Put a two prong plug on each downrigger. Not only does it allow quick disconnect but each time you plug or unplug them it helps strip off some oxidation/corrosion.

Stop at any state park office and show your empire pass. They will give you a card to leave on your dash so the parking officials won’t write you a citation for not paying. Permit card is good for the life of your pass.

Stopped by the Lakeside Beach State Park office to get my new “Dashboard” Parking Permit for the 2018 Empire Pass. They are Green this year.

The Superintendent indicated that, lake levels permitting, they are  going to try to open the State Boat Launch on Monday April 2, 2018. He noted that existing projects and manpower shortages may delay the opening until April 4, 2018.

Travelers should be aware, if they are not already, that the bridge over Oak Orchard Creek (Rt.18)  closed Monday the 19^th of March. Projections are that it would be down about 4 weeks.  Travelers approaching the State launch from the West should not plan on using route 98. Route 18 from the west would be fine or, if you’re a local, you might use the Oak Orchard River Rd, via the Waterport Bridge on route 279 or the Eagle Harbor-Waterport Rd..

Changes have been made to the Parkway to permit West bound traffic to exit onto Route 18 west of the Archibald road which leads to the boat launch.

The folks at the Orleans County office of Tourism say that the county launch by the Black North at Pt. Breeze will open April 15, 2018.

Now if it will only warm up a little, there are a few things I need to do to the boat.

Probably as good a forecast as we could hope for. We'd like the Kings to grow to size but be hungry enough to hit. If I had to choose i'd opt for lots of smaller ones than a few big ones.

Always good to have a macho man aboard but if you fish the derby you may want to double check the rules. I’m not sure where they stand on chumming the waters.

Boards are more cumbersome, take up more room on the boat and should be resealed/painted after two seasons

I use them because they are cheap (no reason you can’t make your own) and they are easily fitted with brass hydraulic quick connects that securely hold a bicycle pennant upright while bouncing around. Provides great visibility for $150 worth of tackle you’ve got out there.

Feb 15, 2018 - Warmer weather today made me curious about the boat launch at Pt. Breeze so I took a ride down to the Black North. There is still plenty of ice on the creek. There were four guys ice fishing about 200 yds. south of the launch. I didn't see any ice north of the ramps to open water but its impossible to guess what may be just under the surface. The ramps are currently closed to trailers

Glad I didn’t hook him, probably would have pulled my little boat to Canada .

Got my first inflatable last winter. (Mustang Survival) - wear it all the time. Hardly know it’s on.
