  1. We were out from 9-12... Screen look the same as the ones posted from Friday. Nothing wanted to play. Trolled with the waves from the lighthouse (135 fow) into 110, screen was hot almost the entire time. Did that twice before we called it.

Now in Pulaski throwing some flys. More people than we expected, just saw one guy set a hook, but it came off. All the action in the hour we've been here.

  2. If we are going to depend on more natural reproduction, maybe it is time to close down some sections of the river that produce high amounts of natural reproduction. I know the trib guys will go off the deep end over this comment but we need to protect the naturals if we are going to depend on them more. It is in everyones best interest.

I mainly fish river and I agree the fish up top spawning should be protected instead of being ripped off the redds

  3. I run the ogdensburg walleye hatchery. We usually release between 500,000 and one million fry into the river each year. We also provide the fry for the st Lawrence river walleye association ponds that they raise to fingerlings. We could probably raise double that but the dec limit our fish take claiming that the stocking program really doesn't help that it is more of a feel good project to use their term. So we would like to do more but we are held back. Judging from the walleye fishing 15 years ago to now I feel the stocking is working.

Is there a way of marking your stocked fish so we could tell if they are stocked (fin clips)?

  4. Gobies eating bass eggs, pike have lost spawning habitat, perch? Perhaps gobies or over harvest. Muskies VHS and loss of spawning habitat. I did some graduate studies through Potsdam State right before Steve started his research.

I saw something online that they can raise the waterlevel to create more pike spawning habitat but that it would flood some cottages on the river? Have you heard anything similar to that?

  5. Fished with a guy from ti bio station last year he said they tagged a lot of eyes in the river and most of the eyes spawn either in black or grasse river. He also said they are flamers and that they have tagged fish in o berg and they have been caught in black and boq. When we fish the river we will usually release anything over 26-28" after we put a few in the freezer. As you know sometimes its hard to find eyes under 26" some nights
