  1. A few months ago I was reading a post from people who had gotten ripped off from Coldwater tackle and I didn't pay much attention because I have never had a problem. Well I ordered a bunch of spoons and flashers .I received the spoons but no flashers even though the packing slip said they had sent them after going around and around with them for the last month I guess I'm out 45 bucks. Lesson learned

  2. I had a 25ft walkaround with twin 200's and a 9.9 high thrust 4-stroke yamaha,it pushed the boat just fine up to around 3 footers,wind/waves bigger then that and you would have to run the big motor to get turned into the waves.look into what a "high thrust"motor is equal to,from what I have been told,it is equal in pushing power to a 20hp,believe its cause of the prop size.what ever you go with,go with a 4-stroke,so smooth, quiet, and no fumes, like in a 2-stroke.also,you can use a control king instead of a control box and cables, controll king gives you precise trolling speeds.

  3. You are going the wrong way. That pitch will decrease your RPMs by a couple hundred. Every inch of pitch equals about 200 rpm up or down , in your case I would guess with the bigger diameter and pitch you would lose 300 +rpms The bigger the diameter the slower it will go over a stock unit. In most cases bigger diameter props are for semi displacement hulls. What RPMs are you running and what is the motors advertised maximum rom range ?

I have a 25 footer just put a new 5.7 and I can't get the rpms over 3000 underway but in neutral 3,000 RPMs is like a throttle

  4. I am also considering replacing my 9.9 Evinrude kicker even though it runs perfect. I want a 15 hp ( better for emergency?) with charging and also will add electric throttle control. My old Evinrude cannot accept the electric throttle system. The carb is buried under an air intake on front of the motor. Anyways, I am interested in what folks have to day on this topic as well. I find it interesting that my research shows that the HP of the kicker is irrelevant, you will only get 5 or 6 mph because unless you get on plane, you are limited.

I have a 25' wellcraft with a honda 9.9 kicker that pushes my boat at 5.5 mph full throttle . My buddy has a 17' aluminum boat that has the same exact honda 9.9 and it pushes his boat at 5.5 mph full throttle and my boat weighs almost 3 times more. It's all about hull speed and I wonder if you go with a 15hp the only thing you'll get out of it is adding more weight to your boat

I'm installing a new 5.7 mercruriser in my boat and someone recommended I use Shell Rotella 15w40 I know its for diesel engines and was wondering if anyone else uses it Thanks

  7. I have an i/o so with a 3 way valve once I was on the fishing grounds I would have to shut my 5.7 off , lift my dog house switch the valve to the kicker, pump the ball and start the kicker and pray the boat doesn't get blown around while this all happens ?

  8. 9.9 kicker

I have a Honda 9.9 kicker that I run on my 25' wellcraft that has a 5.7. I ran the fuel line to the Honda from the fuel separator and I have a hard time getting fuel on initial startup once I get it running it will go all day but when I shut it off I lose all the pressure no matter how many time I pump the ball and have to start up the big motor to get fuel back to the separator. Any thoughts Thanks
