  1. I got a 17.5ft starcraft used it all year on Cayuga. It was perfectly fine. Even one day last month I went out on a really rough morning because I was already there so figured I give it a shot. Roughest day I’ve ever seen on the lake but the boat did perfectly fine. Just got a bit of spray from all the crashing waves, but never felt unsafe

  2. New to Lake Ontario fishing, hit mostly fingerlakes but got a good handle on fishing techniques and everything. Just need a hand with location and depths. Went out this morning fished 60-90 fow had ff and spoons out down 50-70 feet deep on riggers and two dipseys out 160-220. Only had one hit took a ff on a dipsey and sent the rod ripping. Took off what seemed like 100 ft of line before it broke of and took my flasher and fly :( Going out tomorrow looking for suggestion on were to go out of i-bay. Thanks

  3. Hit cayuga yesterday around 7:30-12ish. Deans and went north a bit and went into 50 fow just for the heck of it. Had two riggers down 40 and two divers of the sides one with flasher fly the other with a Sutton spoon. Got two nice pickerel and a huge jack perch non of which I was trying for. The slipped out deeper started picking up lakers and a few small salmon. Switch over to gambler rigs with cowbells running 85ft down in 90 fow when one of the rods goes off I hand it to my girl and she starts reeling it up and she keeps complaining she can't reel any line in I told her it was probably a decent laker so take your time don't horse him in. She spent a good 10 minutes to bring it to the surface and another 5 getting it to the boat. Turns out it was a nice bow. Hit a green spin and glow behind a cowbell on the bottom ?!?!? Weird. I remember another guy on canadagua caught two bows on the spin and glows a few weeks ago too.

  4. That's what I've been doing. Two of the Scotty clips one to pinch the line and the other to the cable. It's a little annoying but if u take both of the clips and hang them over the top of the down rigger cable above the upper pulley it will stay there as you reel up your lower clip. So I never detach the stacked rigger clips till I'm done for the day

  6. Headed out yesterday out of deans cove. On the water by 7:30 shot south to long point and trolled north. Tried targeting anything other than lakers at first. Ran spoons and flies and stick baits on riggers at 60 and 80 and two divers of the side out 200-250. Nothing but lake trout. I could not get anything to bit other than lakers all day. Afternoon shot down to sheldrake and trolled north back to deans. Didn't get much just a few smaller lakers. Weeds were bad on the east side and flees almost on every pole. What am I doing wrong!! I want anything other than lakers!!!! Haha

  7. I come seeking further guidance on fishing here on the finger lakes. As I've mentioned in other post this is my first year really trolling or fishing the lakes. I started with the dipseys and finally got some downriggers going. How do you guys set up your rods to actually put out in the water. If I'm gonna run spoons and I have 20 pound mono on the reel, do you put a leader on to a thinner line or just tie it right on. What kinda line do you put on for other set ups? I plan on runnin spoons, flasher fly sets ups and gambler rigs. Can someone give me a good rule of thumb for the different set ups. I have dodgers and spinners as well to put on

Thanks in advance guys. Plan on fishing cayuga lake the most.
