  1. Well the clear plastic snubber seemed to land more fish for me, could be that I get too excited and set the hook too hard this loosing the fish caught on braid. I eased up a bit and with the snubber it seems to fill in where my lack of experience is. My boat is 20.5' and with long poles, leaders flashers snubbers etc it makes it a long way to the fish. So I would love to dump the snubber to cut back on length. Working on it [emoji476][emoji4]

  2. I am finished the Ontario Derby and preparing for the Owen Sound Salmon Spectacular. I hope to have a few hours to play with the new boards as I won't lie, I don't think I have it set right. It does really drag. I was watching other boats and mine wasn't doing the same. I will read and watch some videos. And will look for someone in Owen sound to help me. I am not too shy to ask. Fishermen are always pretty helpful. I will keep digging [emoji2]

  3. A few people have advised me to 'Keep it simple' and it seems to work. My SWR with only a spoon was my best rod. But it didn't produce the biggest catch. Our biggest was flasher/Fly and meat. This derby I took someone to dinner and he showed me how to tie a meat rig. Fancy Italian dinner, table cloths and white linen napkins. The waiter was thinking this was an unusual date lol

  4. I have a 5 colour but with 4 lines, the current and weaving the shelf in Lake O, ran only 2. However I am rigging up 3 for the Owen Sound Derby. I can only run one line so it won't be as big an issue. I don't know why it works so well, just that it does. I think it's a more natural presentation but I am just guessing really. The whipping makes sense though.

  5. Thanks so much! We made the board and get to fish the Scotty's Shoot Out on Sept 17th. I am captain and my friend Kevin will be fishing. I am so excited. I liked the fishing so much on Lake Ontario I may just have to move back lol

This forum has been very helpful to me too!

    Thanks everyone!

  6. Ahh thanks!!! Such a great thing to say! I am pretty sure most men pick fishing as a way of getting away from wives and girlfriends. We are high maintenance and ****y lol well at least sometimes.

It's a strange world that I have landed in...fishing lol

Somehow I am totally addicted and determined to figure it out.

Biggest accomplishment this year is launching and loading all by myself. I am not prepared to fish alone though. I am afraid of a fish coming in with a lamprey. I think I would throw the Rod in the water and drive away rather than try to deal with it.

Getting ready for the morning....back at it. Funny how catching a fish was important. Now all of a sudden my 24lb King just isn't enough. I want a bigger one.

    Thanks again!

  7. Sk8man believe me, I hear ya. I agree. Just that I am trying so hard to get on that damn board at the Salmon Derby in Toronto. I am in deep now, only a few more days to fish. I am about to jump in the water with my net lol

I took a new guy out with me yesterday and he got a 28lb King! As the rod Rotation would have it I am still not in !

So I will try again tomorrow and see if it makes any difference.

    Thanks!

  8. There! New clip! Funny how they sell this as an upgrade kit and seems the new board has this in it already. Would have been a good idea to just hand these out to customers that bought the old style as obviously there are problems with the old style that I just dumped $80 on.

Oh well. Seems the way it goes. Lol

  9. Ok I will try that. I was wondering...on the little screw in the clip...no nut on the back? Tough to get the screw tighter maybe I don't know what I am doing. New to me. Since it's too windy to fish today I may pop into a tackle store and look and see if I am missing something.

    Thanks for your help!

  10. Ok, I read this before my 18 hours of salmon fishing yesterday. I took the snubbers off. I did however spread three hooks. The bigger of the three fish I didn't get in the boat lol. I am using braid and didn't have much luck without the snubber.

I had my drag set in such a way that it was ticking from time to time.

    Thoughts?

  11. I just bought some bigger planer boards. They are sliding down the line. Have to play with the clip I suppose but I am wondering if it has anything to do with my new 'blood line'

Someone told me the bloodline won't do well with sliders so I am wondering if that's what's wrong.

    And help appreciated.

I did just watch a video that says to keep my pole more parallel to the water to help it come in through the water easier.

Thanks in advance for your help.
