Cold water 553ls with 300 weighted steel and 1000 19 strand fits perfect
Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario UnitedNo LC? how are you utilizing the benefit of the 19 strand backing? do you have an alternative method of knowing how much backing you have out? Thanks in advance.

I use a convector 45 with about 800 feet of 19 strand backing and the 200 weighted steel. The line counter is quite important because every hundred feet of 19 strand drops the lure another 20 feet. It fits on the convector without any problems.
Thanks for your input. How do you run your steel line?

Most of the time I add it right at the connection of the fluoro leader but I sometimes run it at the connection of the backing and copper depending on what I'm running. If I am running heavier stuff at the end I use the former and for sticks etc. I use the latter most often. After awhile you can tell by the feel of the rod and tip which point seems better for that particular setup.
That makes sense Thanks. And are you using a OR12 and what size weight?

I think the key here is "long" coppers. It is the length of time bringing in the fish say on a 600 copper that is critical. I don't use anything longer than 300 and add weight if needed. 100 yds (length of a football field) is a long way behind the boat just for the wire alone.
if you don't mind me asking how and ware do you add weight? Thanks.

I have yellow birds, church's and off shores.I have a big jon mast system, with homemade big boards.
My experience is with the church’s! replace the plastic pin with the metal pin and deploy like in my previous post no need to replace the front clip you won’t regret it very simple and no line slipping!!

I'm ready to give up on in line boards with braid. Even the boards with Sam's release on front, and OR 16 on back are VERY hard to attach, and the Sam's doesn't release well. I'm going back to using my big boards.

What boards are you running?

The way to use braid so it wont slip. Get the braid behind the pin and let the board hang, spins the board so you get a few twists in the line then put the end going to the rod in the front clip and you are ready to deploy the board. Unfortunately 50lb braid will make fast work of the plastic pin you need to change the plastic pin to a metal pin.

Nice work!! in what fow? and how many colors out on the cores?

You have nothing to lose the mods can be undone . use a carpenters speed square to get your 45* angle. I modified a set of the TX44 with good results running 300 copper . Also by raising the attaching point the boards wont dive as easy.
