  1. I had a diver question. I was think about changing my divers. Currently I'm running dipsies. The issue I'm having is that they don't seem to be going to the side very much. Even on 2.5 they seem to be more straight back than to the side. I was thinking about slide divers or Chinook divers. Does anyone have a preference with the divers ? Does any of them pull away from the boat more than another ? I run an 18' Stectum sport if that matters. Thanks for any help

Unrelated to the divers. Did anyone do anything in that mess yesterday ? Got a couple nice Steelhead before we got blown off the lake

  2. I was wondering what speed I should be doing for flies and meat rig. I have done ok on the spoons but have struggled with the flies. I usually troll between 2.4 and 2.9. Should I be going slower for flies ? Like this past Sunday I trolled 4 lines with flies most of the morning. I was coming back to the bar and decided to switch to spoons. As crowded as it was i just used the 2 riggers and had as 22# king hit it. Thanks for any help

  3. last two weeks in july and first week in august i put alot of time in around wolfe island and carlton.  same results as you.  caught fish if 5' to 35' of water.  nothing consistent, just a fish here and there.  but the ones i have been getting are big.  ill be back up on saturday and will post any updates.

That would be awesome. I'm also heading up there on Saturday for a week. My cabin is right in front of round island. If memory serves me right isn't Wolf island in Canadian waters ?

  4. No not necessarily. I will run meat on starboard side dipsey and put it on my steel line which is basically copper and though it on the starboard planner board. More about finding what depth they want it in. I will almost always run it in the coldest water I can find

  5. I don't use cut bait as much as I probably should. With being if the buffalo area where do you guys get it from ? Most of the time I get it from we'd at Slippery sinker. But recently I got it from a place in Clarence, ny. It wasn't very good. It seemed dried out and old. Also how do you guys like to run them. I have 2 meat rig set up from the guys at ITO flies. They set me up with a flasher and a meat rig to go with it. If it matters this is my normal spread. 2 riggers, 2 wire divers and sometimes 2 planner boards. My thought is to run 1 on the rigger with the fishhawk and one on a diver. This is only my 2nd year trolling so the boat is still a work in progress. Thanks for any help

  6. prayingmantis, water is a couple of feet higher than normal but it didn't seem to affect the fishing for us, if anything it seemed that more fish were holding in the normally shallower areas. We caught some big smallies (4-5 lbers) in fairly shallow water for this time of year, 10-12 ft, which isn't normally the case.

Ok thanks. I know it's usually around 8' or 9'. Sounds like the water level has helped the fishing up there

  7. Got back from T-islands on Sunday, fished Eel Bay for a couple days and caught enough good perch for a fish fry for our group of 8. Also caught a few Northern, Smallies and Large Mouth. Considered heading to Carleton to try for some eyes but figured we would try Lake of the Isles first  for some bass.Caught about a dozen and then started picking up some nice crappie just as the sun was setting, about an hour and 15 minutes later we had 30 slabs in the livewell. I absolutely love crappie fishing and spent the remainder of my evenings chasing them and never even tried for walleye. Roughrider IV, any luck on the walleye for you?

With the high water level how was it in eel bay ? I'll be up there in a few weeks
