  1. the central lake buoy was showing a 2 foot wave this morning and I was experiencing some that seemed bigger. I thought I was at the ocean hearing the waves breaking around me.

I would have stayed if not for my boys and wanting them to enjoy the trip. I also had to return to work because my help cx on me. As stated earlier it was more fishable inside of 150 but I had another agenda!!:)

  2. My older son is evidently more prone to the sea sick deal. Sadly he has been on lake O only 3 times this year and all have ended early cuz of chumming and the only trip last year ended early because of a nasty storm that came in unexpectedly. I hate it for him because he has yet to enjoy the thrills of lake O fishing!

  3. Got blown off this morning! Not sure which report to believe anymore. I listened to NOAA while on the water and it was stated to be blowin around 5-8 out of sw. Well the white caps and big rollers seemingly out of the west led me to question the validity of the report, that and my barfing 12 year old. Me and my 17.5' Lund tucked our tail and headed in. Super calm near shore but that isn't where the fish are!!

Gotta find one that is 32.06 to beat My buddy Brett! Lol

    Better luck next time!

  4. Started the day in shallow with marks on the screen but just small fish in the 100 foot range. Decided that going deep was our best chance of hooking into some better fish. Basically from 200+ it was game on! We boated over 20 fish being a mix of steelies and kings. Our biggest came on a double with one on wire and one on copper. The wire was 30# and copper 32#! First time I ever boated a king that big. Lake O fishing is awesome! Ran mix of stingers, echip/spinny and fly combos in Chrome green and white/dew flashers with green flies. post-152882-13769118894738_thumb.jpg Boated those two at around 2-230pm with flat lake and bright sun ....expect the unexpected!!!

  5. Not the day I was hoping for primarily because of the wind ( that was W/NW not south). Anyway finally dropped gear in around 150 fow before I finish setting second rigger I see the other has released. Get on it and the drag is singing! Passed to my son that was already feeling sea sick. After a decent battle I netted a nice king at 20#. I finish setting my 5-6 rod spread and trolled to sodus. Didn't move a rod other than to switch out gear. Pulled gear at 1030 or so after my son got sick. Rollers at 1-3 ft on the way in made for a bumpy ride. Not sure what to do tomorrow? Anyone have suggestions? King hit a mtn dew glow/dew tape spinny with hammer fly. All of my flys are rigged with 22-24 leader should I scrap these and put on longer?

    Thanks,

    Dan

  6. Good going! I bet that gets crazy netting a 20+ king solo. I had a game plan ready to fish this a.m but my fair weather crew lacked interest in dealing with rain...off to work for me.

I am gonna try my borrowed hand held radio again and see how it works!

I hope to get out next week. Still trying to get my 2 boys(9&11) into a big king!

  7. I am new to lake o fishing and have managed to pick up kings on most trips when in 200 or less. For me inside of 200 feels safer since I am in an 18 ft boat. When calm should I always go deep? A couple weeks ago the fishing was great in 100-120 fow out of sandy. How do you when to be shallow vs deep. Other then fishing more often which is hard with work, etc. thanks for input!

  8. Launched out of Hughes. Dropped 8 rod spread in 90-100 worked that depth marking lots of fish on bottom, assumed they were lakers. Poked out deeper to around 170 then back to 130 towards nuke plant. Picked up browns on 300 copper, 260 wire, steelies on 300 copper and 60 rigger, lakers on 100-115 rigger w ff combo, 2 small salmon on 300 copper. Hot lure was magnum chart alewife spoon. Boated 8 fish and missed around 6. no big kings any suggestions on where they may have been? Screen blank when over 200-250. Lots of marks down 80-110 over 120-160fow. Beats being at work!post-152882-13758259361035_thumb.jpgpost-152882-13758259545613_thumb.jpg

  9. I have been following this site for some time and have finally decided to join in! I have met some great people, great fishermen, and have learned a ton. I greatly appreciate all of the help I have received and to those of you that post... Thank You! The only draw back of this site is that my tackle bill has become much larger and space on my rig much tighter. I fish mainly Seneca, Keuka, Canandaigua and some Lake O and Erie. My rig, is a black/grey Lund 1700 Fisherman (avatar pic) I certainly plan on sharing info and pix on future trips. See ya on the H2O!
