  1. Old Man and I thought we were going to move the boat to Lake O early this season but health reasons are keeping us at bay. I bought a ton of stuff for fishing up there and custom painted a bunch of DFC Cowbell Blades for trolling. Since we won’t be going, I’m looking to sell it all. 99% of everything here is brand new. I’m looking to sell it all as a lot for $325.  I’ll pay shipping. Some items are missing hardware, however, I will make sure everything has the appropriate hardware attached. Or if you prefer, I will put it in a bag and you can assemble yourself.

At this time, I’m not looking to part anything out. If there is no interest in the full lot after some time, then I will be open to parting out items.

    Thanks for looking,

    Bob

  2. Went on a Bandit run during the snow storm. Did chrome and clear deep diving. Ughhh split rings get old.

Cheap sunglasses was definitely our hot late summer bait this past season.

Who else likes to run Bandits, especially for browns and eyes.

what’s your most productive color scheme in the summer pattern?

Your diagram is fine- but you would want your set back and weight the same for all three rods per side. That way as you reset you just slide down then put a rod in.  That is a typical big board Lake Erie walleye setup with leadcore.  We’ll use three 3 color on one side and three 5 color on the other.  Now if your target is steelhead you might want to only do two per side- a hot steelhead can wad up a bunch of lines in a hurry.

Thanks for the great advice with running only 2 rods per side for Steelies. Thanks bud!

  4. Hey All,

Looking to put new ceiling mounted rod holders on the inside of the pilot cabin for when we are done fishing for an extended time. Rods are okuma Great Lakes edition ranging from reel doze 20-45.  Shortest is 7 feet longest is 10 feet

does anyone have any recommendations?  I was looking at these on Cabela’s (https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/piranha-overhead-rod-rack?rrec=true )

    thoughts appreciated

I guess it was a 2 part question. 1 was if you can use inlines (yes the type that connect to your line) on large boats. The reason I asked is that my dad always told me it wasn’t possible for some reason, but I never really believed him. my second questions was if the diagram was an ok set up.  I am really surprised by all of your responses and help! Thank you all so much.

  6. Happy Friday All,

probably a dumb question but we’ve only been big water trolling for 2 seasons now. We have a pair of home-made planer boards that work great. However, I am interested in getting some inlines and wanted to know if they would be ok to run off of a larger boat. We have a 26’ Parker with a pilot house. I’m wanting to really spread lures out for early season steelhead since they are so skittish.

    thanks for any help!

  7. Thanks Whaler1!

Here is our baby and our crew: Looking to replace the radar after the 2022 season and going with a Garmin  GMR 18 xHD to tie into our garmin units. Now if I could hit the lottery big I’d splurge and get the Garmin TR1 Gold kicker autopilot. and pretty much have the control center at the helm 😆

  8. We use the bass pro ones in XL one for each side and just use the main motor instead of investing in a kicker. Gets the job done for sure considering the Parker with enclosed cabin is a tank. I would imagine with the size of your boat and the 17 hp front troll, you should have no problem dialing in to your key speed. We usually start with one bag and then add a second if needed based on currents.

Do you have a fish hawk for underwater speed or looking at speed over ground on your unit. Big difference between the two.
    Best of luck

  9. I recently purchased some Luhr Jensen Dodgers in size 1 & 0. They don’t come with any hardware (split rings and swivels). Would anyone be able to provide the size or brand needed for these?

Also, I got some 11” Dreamweaver flashers that didn’t come with hardware either. Any recommendations for swivel and ball bearing snaps for these?

Waiting for the pearl and plaid tape to come in the mail to finish these ones off.

    Much appreciated!

    Bob

  10. Hey all. Long time lurker and finally decided to join the community and contribute and make some friends.

We are a family of 6 + a labradoodle with a 26’ Parker docked at North East Marina in Lake Erie. We chase Lakers, steelhead and walleyes. I make my own custom tackle and was a fly fishing guide for my college years. Working at a state wildlife agency as a GIS Analyst. So I do mapping and spatial analysis and have a deep love and understanding for GPS units and fish finders.

I look forward to meeting you and swapping fish stories and techniques.

    Happy New Year,

    Bob
