  1. I talked to Navionics last night they are going to try and get the web site guy to visit this site I told them it would be great if they could pop in and answer some questions. Time will tell.I hope they do Billy I also forund out that the classic is and old modle GPS chip that might not work in the newer GPS units so they said the gold Marine map is good

  2. I wear just sneakers that's it I have never been one to where sandals or any of the other ones.If they get wet oh well. And Rich I'm only playing with ya  My little loves her crocs it cost me a fortune down in Disney last spring to buy those things that go in the holes she must have 10 in each shoe :o

  3. Billy From what I heard was it's just lkie a marine chart you get by the ocean just depth #'s not lines I agree with just one map.The preium map Billy shows Fair Haven great so that's a plus for you but as far as going west your in the same boat I am if you only go out west a couple times the classic for $129 is the way to go then get the premium maps for your home base.

  4. I talked to a guy from Navionics yesterday concerning the 2008 premium lake map for the northeast that just came out. My question to him was why they cut off the lake Ontario map at around Rochester(I hope it's not from guys wearing Crocs  )this map only covers from Rochester east so it does not cover the Bar area to Rochester The guy wasn't sure why this happened but that the only way to have a good map of that area was to get the Marine classic map for lake Ontario for $129 or the great lake marine chip for $199(I think that is what he said) it will look like a chart you get if you go to the ocean very little contours but depth readings every where and all the channels are marked as well I figured I would pass this on for those of you that fish in the western part of the lake.I fish all thru out New England I didn't want to spend $400 on maps .but It's still going to cost some bucks :)

    Just Lake Ontario

The lake # for the Marine chart is US849L

  5. I have learned how to fish with a wire dipsey set up from mono and have had very good success with them now that I understand how they work. I have been fishing Lake Ontario from 1982 to present and have have had my best times fishing so far in the last couple of years from asking questions on this site and having everyone help me out.I would like to see your knot Fishstix you use now.All I can say is I'm hooked on this site  And COME ON SPRING!!!!

  6. OK Let try a topic that everyone knows about. I had some friends ask me about what ducer they should get and I think the post we had a long time ago was lost in the crash ;( So I run a dual but have had a 200 khz single on my x 15 paper graph and I was able to see my riggers very well I just tilted the transducer back some and was good to go but My X 85A I had before my 620 I just bought lost the signal as I went deeper due to the blow back.I'm asking every one I know who fishes Lake Otario. So Let here from you guys and what you think :D Thanks in advance :)

  7. Billy great post one of my only problems with the nav. premium maps is they cut off Lake Ontario right around rochester in less they added it on the 2008 chip they only show the eastern basin. When I was at the bar last year I thought my plotter was not working right but the chip wasn't made for that area. This is why I'm asking. I could get the great lakes map chip but I would also have to get the northeast map chip. Costing me over $300 just for two map chips I',m trying to see if I can keep my cost down I just don't see why they couldn't just add the rest of the lake on the northeast chip. Does that sound crazy? But I have heard the the G2 map series is loaded into the new Garmin units and they might show that area. That's why I hoping someone has been to the bar area with the G2 or any other maps that would help me out. Thanks again for you reply like always great post.

  8. Back about 15 years ago I was fishing a water reservoir(that I wasn't supposed to) in a little bass buggy casting top water baits on a summer night I hooked on to a 12 inch bass it jumped twice then all of the sudden It felt like it was snagged so I went to see if I could retrieve my lure and or fish. I could see the fish and the lure just under the water so I reach down to my elbow to grab it. Just as I was going to touch the lure this snapping turtle about the size of TEXAS :o comes up out of the water with the bass in it's mouth and scared the living crap out of me never in my wildest dreams did I think that the bass was being eaten by a turtle I just figured it was caught on a tree or something. To this day I double check what is under the boat when I stick my hand in to get a snagged lure. :D

  9. I put the board on my boat also but make sure you leave at least a 1/2 an inch space from the bottom of the boat to the board I never saw that in my boat book so I went back and took off a 1/2 inch I love it no more holes if you need to change things.
