When the original poster asked if the launch was open, It was frozen. Both Sean and my co worker who lives right next to the launch both confirmed same info. But that was before we got 3 inches of warm rain. But with my 25yrs of winter fishing experience I knew with the rain we received the launch was going to open up. Am I going to post or tell everyone the launch is open. No.
Don't worry Joe you will get the clue someday as why I posted what said. Here I'll help you out. In the past winters there has been days where 100 fish a day was achievable. Now that's not happening. Summer fishing has sucked ever since winter fishing took off. With Cayuga having its problems Seneca going yo get worse. I'm glad this winter was cold to give this lake a break.

Why waste gas like the old days. Its the new age Sean. Same story in the rivers for fall fishing.

Just do whatever keeps your better half happy. I catch more fish off riggers and top lines then dypsy. The only time I run a probe is after a big blow and that's only to find the temp break and the speed of the current. Once you know you boat speeds which in finger lakes top speed of 1.9 to 2.3 your going to catch fish.

Ugly stick 9' 0. Bwd 1101. But I like to crank my rod tips down and when the fish hit I get a good set.

I tie my fly rigges with fluoro I use both bloodrun and seagar. If you wet your knots down before you cinch them down makes your tying easier.

I feed my dogs fresh fish all the time. My vet calls my dogs special because they get salmon. They are healthy as can be.

Good luck Andy

You guys over dress for winter fishing. I wear a pair of shorts under my bibs. Layer my shirts. Good hat and 2 pair of gloves. When the fish are hitting you don't feel the cold.

Give the boat a good tune up. when I had my islander I was able to get down to 1.8 to 1.5 sometimes depending on current. That's without bags or plates. You guys got a awesome boat.
