When i was done with the morning sit, i headed over to another property and tweaked a set (The stand I saw the buck action in yesterday). I hung that stand about a week ago after some quick speed scouting chasing a ten point i saw leaving through a ditch line. After 3 sits in it i realized that it needed to be moved slightly. It was north facing and too many deer were coming from behind me so i moved it 10 yards and it now faces west. Lots of fresh sign. Tracks, droppings, rubs, and three fresh scrapes. Im trying to be aggressive and thats something that i have never attempt mid season. i typically do all my stand work in the preseason but I have hung 2 new sets in two weeks and already tweaked one of those to stay ahead of the game. I have probably changed more sets and hung more new sets during the season then all other seasons combined. It has always been something i have avoided but my best stands this season have all been hung or tweaked in season. Praying for a huge amount of luck at this point!

Good to be back in the woods. Not a ton of action but the right kind of action. had a breeding party come through the woods. Stud 10 point on the tail of a doe with a couple of little bucks in tow. Of course they stayed in the thick stuff. Big buck snorted wheezed and chased a small buck off. Grabbed the grunt and did a series of tending grunts. Had a wide racked short time ten point come in from behind me and was gone in a heartbeat. Never had a good shot. It happened fast and with the wet ground, he was dead quiet. This morning, the wind continues its wrath. 23 mph w/ 30+ gusts but I guess it is improving. Maybe give it a shot this afternoon and sit on food. Looks like the wind will finally be quitting overnight tonight. So should be back at it again soon. Hate watching from the sidelines.

Looking for advice on ammo for my mz. Anyone else shooting this gun and done their homework? I would like to stick with triple seven powder. 100 grains (two 50 pellets). I am not having consistency with power belts. Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

So this 8pt has shown himself 5 times in the past two weeks to this camera. The corn was cut 4 days ago and he has shown up two of those nights (but in the dark) presumably to check scent check does in the field.

What??? No one hunting this morning???

For the first time in 20+ years i hunted around home in 8A for opening day. Zero pressure as we were the only two people hunting in the block were in. A lot different from 9H in Wyoming county where i spent the past 10 years or so. Close to a million shots every opener, neighbors doing drives at 730 am, and guys in every block of woods. Really quiet here in 8A sunday morning I only hear 3 different guys shoot. Im sure the weather kept them out of the woods.

Well this morning was a tough sit! It was actually quite nice when i got to the stand but that was short lived once the sun came up. I did make it 815 before i decided it was enough abuse. 30 mph with gusts to 45 is no fun. Did see a small buck work his way through the cut corn field this morning. By the looks of it, the weather will probably put me on the sidelines until tues night/ wed morning.

Sorry about your loss buddy. The buck is just a sign from your dad to get back to the woods... He knows that the woods is where you need to be.
