Pike Hunter, you answerd your own question with your earlier project statement. One of the most critical components to this fishing is understanding what those currents below are doing and how the wind has caused a shift in the down temps. I can tell you that I have had as many good sw wind days fishing as I have had any other. Know the current and track the thermocline with your speed/temp unit.

06/07/2008 Out Saturday. HOT and BUGGY were the words of the day. I personally like the heat, but I forgot my bug spray and “Wholy Crapâ€

05/28/2008: Fished west of the Genny in 85 to 140 fow. Surface lines were going with red or orange spoons w/weights, riggers were firing at 62,52,42 with black or green spoons, Silde Divers were going at 85 and 95 out on a 3 setting stretched 30 & 40 back and the Torpedo Diver (Cuda) down the center with a mag spoon was steady.

05/25/2008: Capt. Ken Biemiller from Off The Hook Charters fished with Steve Allen on the SummerWind along with Capt. Randy Calus. Fished a couple miles West of the river in 80 to 140 fow. Nice Steelhead bite on the surface w/red spoons, split shots 6’ up. Riggers took the majority of the King bite down 50 to 70 feet on black & green spoons and the Torpedo Diver (Cuda) down the shute took 2 Kings as well with mag spoons.

05/16-17: Great weekend of fishing. Friday worked out front of the Genesee in 85 fow, found a nice temp break and a debris slick to support it. On the outside of the slick no bites, inside the slick, bites. Took some nice steelies and cohos, all off the surface with small spoons and stick baits. Silver fishing shut down around 10a so we slid out to 150’ and started a Lake Trout program that rounded off the day beautifully. Sat: While fishing LT’s on Friday we noticed some high hooks that were silvers, so that was our start point for Sat. Worked the top 40’ of the water column and had a nice mix bag bite of steelies, kings and a brown thrown in the mix that stayed steady for most of the day.

LOU Members. Thank you for your support of the pen reared fish at the Genesee River. We have one last work party to get things wrapped up Tuesday 05/06/2008 @ 4:00pm. We need to realease the kings, pull the pens, clean the nets and put the pens back on the hill. With help this won't be bad, as there are only 3 pens left. The steelhhead were already released today. Location is Shumway Marina at the North docks. You help would be greatly appreciated.

Out on Saturday, worked the Genny River plum from 15 to 40 fow. Nice mixed bag of fish including kings, browns and a steelhead. Had stick baits in natural & red/brown going, wonder bread, watermelon & blk/silver spoons off riggers and slide diver lite bites.

Out Saturday 26th  fished off the East side of the Genny without any action first thing. Moved over to the West side off Russell Station and started a brown bite with green/white spoons and natural stick baits off the boards back 125 to 150’. Had a half day trip so I stayed with the inside program. Back out Sunday 27th after heavy rains Sat. evening. The inside water was gin clear, still gave the browns an opportunity without success. Moved out to the deeper water and slowly started building steam on a coho bite that turned out to be our day. Worked 150 to 200 fow with red stick baits and spoons off the boards and 28 sized red spoons and white spoons off the riggers.

Hi Pecky, I was out from 1:00 to 6:00p on Sat. and yes you are right there was a lot of debris over there. I was constantly checking and resetting.

Fished East between Ship Builders and the Webster Pier, went 11 for 17 on browns. Scorpion size Michigan Stingers off the riggers, Minnow, Chartreuse and black stick baits off the boards w/o weight.
